Call Me Crazy, But Maybe Bungie Isn't The Bad Guy
I think a lot of players are really pissed with Bungie, and for good reason. They falsely advertised, and kind of screw us over on a regular basis.
HOWEVER, maybe it's not Bungie we should be pusses with. Bungie made Halo. Halo was sick. Halo kicked ass. Halo was ridiculously successful, had an amazing story, and was loved by thousands of fans.
So what's the difference between them and now? Activision.
Right now, Bungie is the one who's name is plastered on everything, while Activision is kind sitting in the background with a string tied around Bungies goodies. Whatever Bungie comes up with, they have to pass by Activision.
Now think of it from Activision's point of view, whether the game is good or not, they still rake in cash from the sales, Bungie will take the fall in reputation if it sucks, AND furthermore if it does suck and people stop playing, Activision will profit from It still, by releasing a new CoD. The buttsucking of Destiny will drive people back to CoD, and then Activision won't have to split the profits with Bungie.
I think Activision has Bungie by the balls, and Bungie is going to take the fall for it.
Now Bungie is partly to blame for partnering with the makers of CoD (not to rip on CoD) but still, Activision is more than likely playing a bigger role in this than we all think.

Edit 2: so apparently the crew from Bungie that actually worked on Halo quit Bungie halfway through the making of destiny and went back to the studio that bought out Halo (343 or 434?)
Also, the lead story writer for the game halfway through as well. It's speculated that the reason he left is that Activision wanted Bungie to cut dice a lot of the game up into pieces instead of selling it all together. He didn't want to deal with people destroying the story.
Clearly Activision is Fu**ing everything up right now. They once had a good reason to be afraid of Destiny, it would have taken down CoD but not anymore.

Makes sense. I have been thinking the same thing for a while now. Activision is money grubbing, almost as much (or more than) EA and Ubisoft. Hate to see Bungie and Destiny shackled to them.

Shit, the company has extensive experience with Microsoft. I don't blame activision at all. If anything, since activision and sony made a 10 year kind of investment on this, they're probably concerned about the low metacritic scores and lackluster reviews. Activision thought it was buying into a ten year awesome game too! Bungie just scammed everybody. Destiny was like it was created by rng itself by mixing bits and pieces from other games/movies. It's just a mix of the following: Star Wars (speeders, hunter gear etc.) Halo (titan class, core style fps gameplay) CoD (ads, "relics,") Borderlands (dinklebot, randomized guns with edgy names) District 9 (the fallen, icebreaker design lol) The Matrix and Gandahar (the vex) Mass Effect (in general) 5th Element (the cabal are a mix of the mangalores and mandoshawan) It's like they just threw shit together directly from movies (doesn't even look different) to form a content base made by high quality artists and then just set it to the tune of vanilla WoW. It's not even subscription based, but it feels like it. It's some stitched together weirdness of various "cool" things.

3 RepliesI've been saying this exact same thing for months and although Bungie would never publicly admit it I'm betting that behind closed doors they're saying, "Our fans aren't stupid. They figured out what really went down." and are pretty pissed at Activision over this on the inside. Oh and it was about half of the Halo team that went back to 343. The others are still there, but their head writer went back to 343 after some kind of falling out with Activision it seems.

Ok so let me get this straight. Activision who also has milked cod to death but the developers who created those games for them have had a story (maybe not a great story and maybe even over done militarized michael bay type action, a story none the less) a crap ton of customization for your online character in recent releases, along with a crap ton of customizations for gamer emblems etc. Also added dlc such as zombies and what not thay have had hours of gameplay. Im not buying it. One thing you can say about cod and other games that activision has done in the past is it hasnt been cheezy and lacking in content. You can say they milk the crap out of stuff, but not make a game like what we have seen with destiny. This is all on bungie as far as im concerned.

Shooter fans unfamiliar with----and angry about----how MMO and RPG games work. 2. MMO/RPG fans unfamiliar with----and angry about----the limitations being an on-line FPS imposes on a game. 3. People who think their $60 is worth more than it actually is.

Sure. There's probably not one "gamer" on Activison's staff. It's just a bunch of investors trying to figure out how they can milk this thing until its dry. As you said, I sort of feel for Bungie because ultimately people will tie their name too this debacle. The best is when people yell at DeeJ. His title is something like community feedback coordinator or something. Meaning he pretty much strictly deals with us and probably only has so much voice when it comes to our demands/game design. People forget the middle man is always the puppet on the string and that's exactly what Bungie is. We're the audience, Bungies the puppet, and the mighty Craptivision is the puppeteer!! I left COD a long time ago for most of the exact things this game has done wrong. I'm hoping next time around they will have a better idea of what they want to do, what we want, and are a bit more consumer conscious in terms of content and a complete experience first and foremost. Then they can bleed me dry. ;)

1 ReplySomething else about Activision. On each cod game they release a texture or skin pack and it cost like 3 dollars when all you get is a skin for your gun that has rubber duckies on it.

2 RepliesIt sucks because Activision and their lack of innovation is why I do not buy the call of duty games at all any more. Dice studios owns me with battlefield. Now that is an expansion pack. 30 maps and 100 more guns and crazy new vehicles for 50 after the 3rd update cause the first 2 were free. Or you buy the game new and the price always was 65 but you got a code for all map packs to I crease the amount playing online together at once. Destiny is amazing and so fun. They also lie cheat and steal cost wise from the players and that gets extinguished quick in this industry just like halo after the 3rd one. All a waste of cash
