See linked youtube. Not the first time I've seen it. If you go up close, the shanks little fans are still animating too.
Sorry I should clarify, this appears to only happen when you create a firefly explosion near a shank, which kills it.
Shanks explode when they die regardless of how they are killed.
Edit: I know shanks don't have critical spots. I'm talking about indirect damage from firefly explosions on other mobs.

This is the stuff Bungie should listen to. Not nerfs or buffs (although sometimes it's not a bad idea) but the actual bugs in the game. Thanks for showing this, and I hope it gets patched. Actually, half of me doesn't want this patched because it's kind of cool, the random stasis shanks...

Lol, I know what your talkin about OP. I have noticed this too. Is a good way to get up close and look at one without it shooting you.

Bump.

Shanks dont have critical spots to cause the explosion
-
Yeah, I've seen this. They do fall to the ground though so my theory is that the shock of the explosion scrambled their inside but didn't do enough damage to make them actually blow apart.

Edited by Logic: 12/6/2014 8:10:05 PMFirefly requires you to get a critical kill to activate the explosion and shanks don't have a crit spot. The firefly explosion also doesn't cause enemy's killed by it to explode.

Happens all the time with my Cave Dweller. The Shanks still hover in the air after they got destroyed. It's a bit creepy. lol

And hive that should normally disintegrate don't when killed similarly. Probably just a code error or an oversight.

They never have, as far as I know.
