I've decided that I'm going to put in a latter of resignation and probably officially finish on Wednesday, then come back for a half day next saturday due to low staff numbers.
I'm overstressed, losing sleep and frankly just hating the job.
I've been here for just under 10 months.
Not sure what I'm going to do. I was going to wait until I found another job, but I don't think I can. I'm just going to keep looking, leave and then keep looking.
Sorry Flood, I don't get on here much anymore and I just need to vent.
EDIT:
So people are aware, I posted this to say where I work:

Short version: retail phone store combined with contracts for mobiles and internet.

What job is it?
-
Before quitting one job, you should always have another lined up and ready to go so you don't get stuck in unemployment.
-
You should find something you enjoy even if it's a simple job. You work to live not live to work so why should your job cause so much stress for you?
-
Quit that shit son. I was grinding my teeth for 4 yrs as a manger. Fkuc that!

Edited by Masch619: 12/5/2014 7:23:32 AMThere is a support group for people like you. They meet every Friday at the bar

Set yourself free. They need to learn how to be competent without you. You'll be doing them a favor by teaching them a lesson in better management if they are under staffed.
-
Dont worry too much. When you're ready, you'll find a job with ease as you are keen. Go with the flow of the river, you'll eventually get to where you are supposed to be.
-
Go to college if you're gonna do that

Funny, I'm roughly in the same position. I'm talking to my co-worker about it tomorrow. I don't think I'm going to leave though, they just need to cut my shifts. This job has really kicked my face into the ground, I've been pushing myself for far too long with it trying to adapt, but it's just resulted in me not sleeping or eating, which is really screwing with me, it just gets worse every week. I've worked stressful jobs before, it's just how it goes. But this one is just another beast entirely. I'm just going to go back to school and finish up my degree. I've been trying for five years to make it work without one, but at this point I'm just kind of thinking "-blam!- it, might as well". I'd rather have tried to fight for my future than to settle with whatever the hell I have now. Obviously this means I don't have another job lined up, and that's not such a bad thing really. I've only had a job lined up after quitting another one time, otherwise I've always been able to land on my feet.. or face considering they weren't of much help in the end. In any case, I'll survive it. Do what you feel you need to do. It's not like you were going to make a career out of your current job anyways, I assume. You'll find something else.
-
Well seeing as you are only 18 and don't need the cash to survive I wouldn't blame you. Unfortunately once you don't have your parents to rely on you'll more likely still come across this problem and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it except deal with it. As another poster said, that's just life. Most people don't like their jobs and some dread going to it. I don't particularly like mine but I've also been here for 3 years so not too easy to just quit and find another once you've already got a routine going.

( •-•)> relevant.

Quitting your job and not having one lined up is retarded. Not only do employers generally link to see you working while taking up a 2nd job but not you have nothing to fall back too. It could takes months for you find another. We all get stressed, lose sleep and dislike our current jobs. Thats life. It'll always feel like that.
-
where do you work
-
First get another job ready...
-
W/e, you're gonna die anyways...
-
If possible you should give them 2 weeks notice.
-
I did the same thing. Then bam 2 months passed and I was still out. Only recently started again about a month ago. Just make sure you keep activity searching

What's your job?
