Gameplay mechanics for destiny
Not all these are my original ideas, this is simply what my version of destiny would be like.
Login to tower default, option to login to other destinations
Tower supports up to 100 people, uses phasing (my terminology might be wrong here) like wow/lotro/etc
Huge vaults. Instead of small sections by type, the whole screen is slots, and you l1/r1 to access different inventory types
Unlimited glimmer wallet
Glimmer buys everything, its the only currency. marks, strange coins are gone
Faction Reputation lowers prices, factions sell certain gun/armor types
Faction vendors refresh perks weekly
Factions rarely sell decrypted exotics
Firing range in tower.
Guns dont upgrade or gain xp, perks are always active
Gunsmith tweaks guns, you bring him glimmer/weapon parts he mods/adds perks. Adding Perks lower 2 gun stats
Gunsmith can upgrade dmg/stats on any gun. Cost is glimmer/parts/decrease in another stat Hard limit for each stat, based on gun type/rarity, and its expensive
Guns with no perks are cheaper to upgrade, hard limits are upped
Tower now houses armorsmith, functions like gunsmith
Cloaks/bonds/marks: rare have 1 stat, legends have 2 stats, exotics have 1 stat 1 perk
Transmogrifying
Each time you log in it rolls a random emblem for you. Spend glimmer to keep if you want. You can switch to purchased emblem at any time. Does not take up vault space.
Shader vendor. Has hundreds. Spend glimmer to acquire. No vault storage
Save/load armor/weapon loadouts.
Matchmaking for all fireteam content
No need for xur, factions/smiths sell everything you need for glimmer
Ghost decrypts engrams, cryptarch is gone
First nightfall run each reset drops 1 guaranteed legend or exotic engram. subsequent runs reduce chance of this by 50% cumulatively until reset. Otherwise you get glimmer, sparrows, ships, faction rep
Get rid of heroic daily and weekly, have multiple nightfalls to pick from
Dedicate a content team to creating new strikes and releasing for free
Strike playlist has random modifier
Playlist is not random, it cycles through a fixed order. No need for random when theres so few
Strike playlist bosses drop legend engram
Fireteams can trade encrypted engrams
Smart loot: engrams will always be for your class
Ship shaders
Sparrow shaders
Sparrow mechanic. Mods speed toughness special moves of sparrow for glimmer/sparrow parts.
Sparrows have weapons
Coop arenas, from tower
Perks are always active, armor/guns dont need leveling
Players have flags that indicate LFG.
Zones are way more open, no more killed by architects
Enemies spawn in intelligently. Large numbers of weaker enemies come in emptier zones, zones with lots of guardians get more powerful enemies
In game grimoire
Tower has special 1v1 arenas for duels
Can bet on duels
Players who return to orbit during matchmade pve content are banned from matchmaker for 15 minutes. Every subsequent return to orbit during matchmade content adds another 15 minutes, cumulatively forever until.... player completes matchmade content, at which point its reset to 15 minutes
If 2/3 or 4/6 fireteam members RTO, remaining player is not penalized for RTO
Voting system for RTO. If 2/3 or 4/6 fireteam votes to RTO, no one penalized
Matchmaker looks at players RTO history, light level, positive report history (helpful, friendly, skilled) when matchmaking.
No limit on equipping exotics.
Exotic armor makes your shields tougher but charge slower. Chest Exotics also make your shield either void/arc/solar
Legendary armor makes your shields charge faster but are weaker. Shield has no type.
Instead of public events, enemies attack zones and guardians have to defend. Spawns hundreds of enemies and a couple bosses. They remain until cleared. Tower is alerted.
