I'm only dissapointed in one thing with this update.

It's that all our favorite legendary gear will one day be left to rot when the next set of raid gear and weapons reign supreme. Example, I have a Dead Orbit shotgun and "big whoop" some players say, they can get one too from the vendor. The randomness in this game though allowed me to have a shotgun generated with Knee Pads (more sliding), Accurized Ballistics (more range and accuracy), Quickdraw, and Shot Package (less spread when aiming down the sights which synergies almost too well with quickdraw and kneepads.) You won't find any of that on Dead Orbit's Hide and Seek-42, all of these abilities culminate to make my shotgun unique. Sure in pvp people hate me because I slide and shoot them below the belt but this is a gun I got where it made its own play-style and I was free to follow and utilize it or turn my back and dismantle it. My point is I had a weapon that felt legendary in a game where we the players were meant to "Become Legend." I'm saddened because this shotgun won't be near as useful to me as it once was in the future. In pvp games where level advantages are gone sure I can use it but in say Iron Banner, it would become lackluster in the future. I feel we don't have enough access to randomly generated legendary weapons in this game diluted with equally legendary gear dubbed "Exotic" and when we do get them, how long will they last anyway? Particularly the ones that are generated with good combinations of effects. That's not to say though I don't look forward to the future. I can continue carrying around my Thorn, Gjallarhorn, Icebreaker and Patience and Time which are my favorite exotics released so far. We even have new Vanguard and Crucible gear to look forward to! But it feels so pointless. These new supposedly legendary weapons and armor might be generated with effects that just don't fit the play-style I use and if they don't, what then? What do I have to do to obtain good weapons and armor? Hope I get some lucky drops? Vendor armor as of now doesn't even make sense. Ikora Rey for example has two sets of gloves. One increases the reload speed with auto rifles, one increases reload speed for hand cannons. Cool. These synergize well with two primary weapons. Bodies have more auto rifle/sniper ammo, and hand cannon/fusion rifle ammo. I'm not a fan of fusion rifles so I'll continue looking towards the auto rifle line as I feel comfortable enough with that. Boots include... More ammo for auto rifles. Cool this set looks good enough to me but what about Jack to the left of me? He likes hand cannons and fusion rifles but the only boots offered to him that isn't for auto rifles only increases scout rifle ammo. His only option is to go to the Crucible and Dead Orbit vendor. Now you don't know Jack, not quite like I do. He doesn't like pvp at all. I get the pleasure of a pure pve path and my friend has to do pvp, he has no say unless he wants to settle for pve boots that increase his level alone. What about the pve players running with scout and pulse rifles? The only gear you can get for those is pvp outside of the raid. "What am I getting at?" many people may be wondering at this point and it's that gear pathing in this game is way too narrow, a problem that players have had since the beginning. Players get locked into doing things they may or may not enjoy and that with the limited amount of weapons and armor being released, almost all players will be paying the same game as each other, running the same weapons because most of what we're about to find at the vendors will be of very limited use. Any weapons that we may have found that made us stand out will be cast aside for good soon. The only way we can become the legends we wanted to at the beginning is if we had more opportunities at legendary gear, especially since most players are at or near the endgame anyway. I propose that on daily shop refreshes, the random effects on gear be re-rolled and that the gunsmith be given the reforging option for all vendor gear so even though our chances may be random, we'd at least have more chances to get the gear which will help us define our play-styles. With these changes we can lay down our old legendaries, find our new favorite gear and look towards an even brighter and open future in the universe of Destiny. While it's nice that exotics will continue that trek with us, we can't overlook legendary gear. This game's motto after all is "Become Legendary", not "Become Exotic." See you star side Guardians. Short Version: Legendary gear needs to have its effects re-rolled on daily reset and the gunsmith needs a reforging ability for all vendor weapons and armor so players have more opportunities to differentiate themselves and their play-styles better.
