Seriously Bungie? I was looking forward to the Dark Below until I found out I need to re-upgrade all of my max out exotics just so it won't be inferior to the new weapons. This is bs and you know it. Another lame excuse for Bungie to have us grind out exp for exotic weapons. For the people that say "oh just do all of the vanguard bounties" or "just upgrade your duplicates".
1. I don't have duplicates of my max out exotics
2. I have school Monday through Friday with an additional 3 hour swim practice. I only have one hour to play video games and I don't want to waste my enjoyment grinding. Even on the weekends I am busy with doing stuff with my family or at a swim meet.
Bungie please change the requirements for getting the upgraded versions. Make it so most of our exp carries over so we don't have to grind it all over again. Heck, instead of resetting the progress, add on to the upgrade trees.
Edit: Thanks for your opinions guys! So far as now, the majority don't like this too, but not by a lot 55-45. Looks like this topic is half and half
Edit: My response to all you guys comparing Destiny to MMO games and don't see my point
1. This is not a MMO game, stop comparing it to Destiny. This is also not the prestige from COD, stop comparing it to that. Stop comparing Destiny to any game out there
2. I am ok buying the upgrade from Xur and paying the glimmer. What makes me tick off is I have to re level the whole gun again. It takes 3-5 days for me to max out an exotic. I have 9+ exotics I want upgrade, but grinding out exp for them will take forever. Plus I have school and swim so it takes a lot o time away from me playing Destiny.
What they should do is either let our exp carry over or add new upgrade trees to our existing gun when we take it to Xur to upgrade it.

Edited by DurtyFitz138: 12/4/2014 3:45:25 AMFirst: Consider the alternative. They could have just left the old exotics at 300, which would be inferior to anything coming out of the DLC. Any new exotic acquired from the DLC will require you to level up as well. Why are you not whining about that? It is essentially the same thing, with the difference that you are able to upgrade an items that you are familiar with, and like. Second: Comparing this game, to an MMO is one of the closest things we have to compare to. It is an RPG style game, that uses equipment to determine damage and damage mitigation. In every single game of this type, when harder content is released, this includes new equipment that is superior to the prior iterations. In nearly every other game of this type, old equipment acquired is just that, old, it is not given as an option to increase it to maintain its usefulness. Lastly: All this talk of wasted time... I don't know about you, but my exotic items being leveled up was a byproduct of me playing and enjoying this game. For you to say that The time spent leveling up exotics was wasted, is to say that the time you spent enjoying this game (which is assumed, as you are still here, reading this, and playing the game), was wasted. If that is truly the case, why are you still here? What has kept you around, forcing you to perform these activities, to level up your exotics? I enjoyed the time I spent playing the game, which leveled up my exotics, and I will do the same a second time around. Just as I would, if I were to acquire exotics through the DLC content. Those of you complaining about the fact that new content is being released, thus increasing the level cap, thus requiring new equipment, do not understand this type of game. This is literally nothing new, and should have been expected.
