Seriously Bungie? I was looking forward to the Dark Below until I found out I need to re-upgrade all of my max out exotics just so it won't be inferior to the new weapons. This is bs and you know it. Another lame excuse for Bungie to have us grind out exp for exotic weapons. For the people that say "oh just do all of the vanguard bounties" or "just upgrade your duplicates".
1. I don't have duplicates of my max out exotics
2. I have school Monday through Friday with an additional 3 hour swim practice. I only have one hour to play video games and I don't want to waste my enjoyment grinding. Even on the weekends I am busy with doing stuff with my family or at a swim meet.
Bungie please change the requirements for getting the upgraded versions. Make it so most of our exp carries over so we don't have to grind it all over again. Heck, instead of resetting the progress, add on to the upgrade trees.
Edit: Thanks for your opinions guys! So far as now, the majority don't like this too, but not by a lot 55-45. Looks like this topic is half and half
Edit: My response to all you guys comparing Destiny to MMO games and don't see my point
1. This is not a MMO game, stop comparing it to Destiny. This is also not the prestige from COD, stop comparing it to that. Stop comparing Destiny to any game out there
2. I am ok buying the upgrade from Xur and paying the glimmer. What makes me tick off is I have to re level the whole gun again. It takes 3-5 days for me to max out an exotic. I have 9+ exotics I want upgrade, but grinding out exp for them will take forever. Plus I have school and swim so it takes a lot o time away from me playing Destiny.
What they should do is either let our exp carry over or add new upgrade trees to our existing gun when we take it to Xur to upgrade it.

Blaming bungie for your schedule? Lmfao, God forbid they dident cater to everyone and anyone. They must surely know about this one hour of game time you have among the hundreds of thousands or millions of hours of gameplay so far? How dare they forget that 1 hour. I apologize on there behalf lol

The problem with this poll is that the vocal minority are on these forums. Therefore the seeming 'majority' will answer they are not okay with it. The only fair way to do this would be to have the poll pop up ingame and get every current players opinion. I think those of us who are fine with it dont have a voice amongst all the rest. Because we are the minority of the minority....that makes sense right?
-
The gun takes less materials and experience to max out after you buy the upgrade....it's not going to take as long as a normal exotic....people need to actually read the updates and get all the information before they start flipping out.
-
I'm completely fine with it, even more so now that I know on the 'reset' of a weapon, it begins at 300 damage, meaning that they're still useable in Crota's End before they're fully upgraded again. It's definitely better than all current exotics being rendered obsolete for high level pve.
-
I find it alright, for those of us who have been playing for ages and hardcore players, besides, doing bounties between 3 chars levels up shiZ fast, and Bungie said that exo Rica are faster to level after upgrade so I'm all good But this new system is gonna ruin it for the casual player are and people who have recently joined
-
its amazing how many brown nosers there are here
-
I'm totally 100% ok with it. I'll take this as an alternative to them becoming useless which is the norm in MMO type games. Think of it as a new exotic which is really what it is. It's like going from legendary gear to raid gear. They are both purple but one is more powerful. Your upgrades don't transfer. You are trading in your old lower level exotic for the new higher level exotic. You should be happy that that is even an option, instead of having to grind for a brand new exotic.
-
Lol, honestly people need to stop complaining. What were you guys hoping for? A win button to automatically make it max level? Calm down. It's not that serious. You're going to be leveling new gear ANYWAYS. Might as well level up your exotic in the process.
-
So your telling me you play 5ish hours a week but you want your guns to be as strong as those who are playing 12+ hours a week. I'm just confused did you think the grinding was gonna stop?
-
They could just leave them as is and force you to eventually replace them with items that outclass them. So you're mad that they let you bypass RNG for the price of releveling an item plus a shard and some glimmer? Any other game you'd just be ditching what you have for something new. You get to pick the exotic items you like and keep them relevant to your character moving forward. You don't have to RNG, or Grind to buy it and then level it. You just upgrade and relevel and poof, it's useful outside of the crucible at 30+. Don't like it? Don't upgrade. Just replace your weapons and armor with the better ones you find.
-
Im ok with it why.... I never had any worthy exotic to begin with but in all seriousness i see it fr both persective. Guess you cant please everyone all the time
-
A lot of the gameplay in Destiny is predicated on repetition. Repeating all that repetition again is not something I am looking forward to.
-
Takes 1-2 days to max an item out. Big -blam!-ing whoop.
-
Here's an idea. Don't turn in ANY bounties of 5000xp, thats 50000xp. Run the nightfall thats an extra 20%. Use a telemetry (if its a weapon you are upgrading) then turn in your bounties. That should get a lot of it done in no time.
-
You mentioned your personal reasons for only playing an hour a day. That shouldn't have anything to do with Bungie's decision. Sure, lots of people can't play as much as they like. But what about people that play A LOT and want new things to do and work for? All these posts are saying, I don't like this... I don't want that... I .... I ..... I ...... If people want a game to be exactly the way they want it, make your own game. There is no option that won't annoy someone. When things go your way, be glad. When they don't, work through it or find a new game.

was your father sad to find out he had a daughter??
-
Lmao +100 tears
-
You aren't required to upgrade them. You can keep them at 300 if you like.
-
Edited by DurtyFitz138: 12/4/2014 3:45:25 AMFirst: Consider the alternative. They could have just left the old exotics at 300, which would be inferior to anything coming out of the DLC. Any new exotic acquired from the DLC will require you to level up as well. Why are you not whining about that? It is essentially the same thing, with the difference that you are able to upgrade an items that you are familiar with, and like. Second: Comparing this game, to an MMO is one of the closest things we have to compare to. It is an RPG style game, that uses equipment to determine damage and damage mitigation. In every single game of this type, when harder content is released, this includes new equipment that is superior to the prior iterations. In nearly every other game of this type, old equipment acquired is just that, old, it is not given as an option to increase it to maintain its usefulness. Lastly: All this talk of wasted time... I don't know about you, but my exotic items being leveled up was a byproduct of me playing and enjoying this game. For you to say that The time spent leveling up exotics was wasted, is to say that the time you spent enjoying this game (which is assumed, as you are still here, reading this, and playing the game), was wasted. If that is truly the case, why are you still here? What has kept you around, forcing you to perform these activities, to level up your exotics? I enjoyed the time I spent playing the game, which leveled up my exotics, and I will do the same a second time around. Just as I would, if I were to acquire exotics through the DLC content. Those of you complaining about the fact that new content is being released, thus increasing the level cap, thus requiring new equipment, do not understand this type of game. This is literally nothing new, and should have been expected.
-
You know you don't have to re-upgrade it right?
-
Wait so do the skill trees change? . As in do the perks on our exotics now change when we re upgrade them through xur
-
Edited by Schwifty: 12/4/2014 4:16:00 AMIm fine with it cuz i could just re-upgrade the one i want at a time. For example if i want my IceB to be stronger i could just get the thing from xur just for my IceB and not for any other exotics Unless if you do that u reset all the exotics at the same time
-
I really don't care I just play the game how I wa... *how Bungie wants me to play it;) Lol but for real idc I enjoy this game and haven't been too disappointed yet about anything!
-
Well I'll be after the new exotics to level so yes, I'm good.
-
I'm ok with this because even when new players get exotics and they buy the upgrade they will still have to level it up just like "veterans" would not to mention I thought I saw somewhere that bungie described this process as "reforging" which pretty much means building from the ground up so I expected it to work out this way
-
I'm fine. It will be easier upgrading the exchanged Exotics for one. Also I only have three that are fully upgraded and one that I can fully upgrade, and one that is over halfway. I tend to only use a few guns(Fatebringer, Hawkmoon, Vex Mythoclast, Praedyth's Revenge, Icebreaker, Found Verdict, Invective, Corrective Measures, and Hezen Vengeance).
