I just killed two Hive Majors and was able to use the sword of crota for a short time while on patrol on the moon. I was on my lunch break so I didn't have time to figure out what was going on. When I went back to orbit I noticed a new icon for the darkness below. I thought that wasn't coming out until the 9th, so what's going on? Also I've noticed since the update that I no longer receive ascendant shards for the first public event of the day, so that must have changed. I'm now getting motes of light instead. How can I get ascendant shards now?
