E.T. for the Atari 2600. I was 3 years old at the time and my big brother had taken me next door to hang with his friend Will and his younger siblings. We went up to Will's room and they were there trying to figure out wtf to do. It was the first video game I had ever seen, and since it was based on the movie I was obsessed with at the time I was hooked immediately. E.T. has a reputation as one of the worst video games ever made, and it was a main factor in the collapse of the video game industry in the early 80s, but I'll always smile when someone brings it up.

What a great thread... As much as I love modern gaming, I miss these days. So many great games I still love. I would be here forever if I named them all but a few stand outs that made me into a gamer are: 1. Alex Kidd - Sega master system 2. Super Mario bros - NES 3. Blades of steel - NES 4. Mega man X - Snes 5. Golden Axe - Sega master system 6. Streets of rage - I don't remember what console this was lol Of course the later generations Super Mario 64 - N64 Zelda ocarina of time - N64 I miss the days before cutscenes, when speech bubbles appeared over my characters head and when you were injured or using your next life in a game, your character would flash between transparent and full colour! Lol
