I have to admit it was probably Mario 64 for me. What a fun game that was, and the whole idea of saving your progress, what a revolution.

Final Fantasy VII did it for me. I had been playing games before then, sure, but they were mostly platformers. Those types of games could be played for 10 minutes and I could turn it off. FF7 was different for me because it got me into RPGs. Like straight up addicted to RPGs. I think I've beaten it about 5-6 times completely (aside from getting everyone up to lvl100) and each time it just gets better for me (except those graphics lol) The characters and graphics at the time blew my mind. And the soundtrack! I have many game OSTs I enjoy but I'll never have one that makes me feel as relaxed as 7's. It brings back way too many memories. The world map music, the underwater music, the city of the Ancients music...just too many good tracks to mention! Then the game play blew me away. The concept of leveling up and meeting new characters and adding them to my team was amazing. It was all totally new to me but it left a huge mark on how I enjoy videogames. The story was crazy for me to experience too. Sure there are better stories out there now, and even back then, but this'll be the one I remember for life. I could go on and on but I should probably get back to work lol
