In my opinion thorn was over buffed. It should have been left as is just with a faster reload and returned mark of dead damage.
Lower recoil, higher clip, lighting enemies up when hit in addition to the faster reload, mark of dead damage and the already excellent accuracy/range and above average hipfire and you get pretty much the best handcannon in the game

I think the only unnecessary thing they did with thorn was make it highlight targets. The reason they did it was to bring it more in line with the raid weapons though.
-
Freaking lol@thorn whiners. You obviously haven't run into very many TLW users. Thorn was barely changed.
-
Wow you are dumb. That is my only response to that. You are dumb.

Edited by Ghost J34: 12/2/2014 1:08:56 PMMust be hard to respond when deep down, you know you have nothing to say back. KDR: 0.67 Yeah, I'm the dumb one.
-
Because in plagued with latency issues i'm dumb.... Dropped 300 on a new router that should solve that. But honestly how -blam!-ing blind can you be and not notice the thorn changes. You are dumb if you don't. It's simple. I don't need to elaborate on that.

Edited by Ghost J34: 12/2/2014 9:20:12 PMAgain, go ahead and post the changes. You won't because they're not significant. It has a slightly faster reload (the same as every other HC now), it has slightly more stability (which means nothing for HCs outside of TLW), its magazine was increased by 3 (necessary change that doesn't have anything to do with its killing power) and its DoT was brought back to its pre-stealth nerf damage. There's nothing there that suddenly made it "overpowered". It's called placebo.

The only effect as far as buffing DOT goes is in PVE. The better handling, larger clip, and faster reload impact PVP, but that DOT doesn't (it's still 7, as has been forever (prior to the ninja nerf to 3). So, with it's handling, larger clip, and faster reload... it's on par with most hand cannons in PVP. The DOT effect in PVE is huge, as well as it should be... it still barely phases phogoth. My point being, the buff, even if it was over buffed, doesn't impact The Crucible at all... Thorn is now on par with Timur's Lash and TDYK.... which has always been this way in PVP.

Edited by BEH0LDiTzSAM: 12/2/2014 1:01:39 PMLike I said, the DoT damage is fine but they didn't need to improve stability and give it a higher clip aswell. That's just overkill. Red death got a faster firerate but was countered with less damage. Thorn just got a flat out buff in almost every category when aside from putting the DoT back a buff wasn't really necessary (again, reload buff is acceptable but for me I didn't mind it with the handcannon reload gloves).
-
So, it shouldn't be on par with other hand cannons, even though it's an exotic? I mean, I hardly ever see the dot kill anybody in crucible, and having 9 rounds instead of 6 was needed... it's still less than a lot of HC's. The stability is also on par or less than most Legendary HC's.... so making thorn have a larger clip, and more stability to make it as good as Timur's Lash, TDYK, or The Last Word doesn't make sense? That leaves us with DOT damage, which, let's face it... most of the time the DOT doesn't kill anybody unless it's a damn close battle and you've already put 4 or 5 rounds in them. What they did to fix Thorn made perfect sense.
-
4-5 rounds? Thorn kills in two shots with the dps, 3 if you only get body shots
-
I dunno, I've been using it in Crucible, and body shots takes at least 3, and often the DOT doesn't kill them.
-
Well, why shouldnt it be the best one? I mean, Hawkmoon is a sniper, TLW a shotgun and Thorn a Fusionrifle So its balanced, every gun plays differently
-
Thorn isn't really hard to get imo. Or at least less people have hawkmoon because its an exclusive. But thorn is probably the most common bounty to get, and if you are decent at pvp the bounty is easy. I fully completed the entire thorn bounty in 5 hours after getting it

Look, we are a minority in this forum
-
Agree on the lower recoil part. Thorn users pretty had it down if you were killing with it. Lower recoil just made it that much easier to use.
-
thats pretty much what it is though
-
I'm saying the DoT and faster reload buff is fine but not the stability and 3 extra clip
-
It needed the extra 3 rounds, I'm sorry. Most people don't even take the stability perk.. it's pretty unnecessary.
-
It always had the stability perk, they gave it more base stability in the buff so you have leas recoil without even needing that perk
-
the 3 extra bullets was needed as far as the stability upgrade its hardly noticeable
