Please please please do not let the whiners win this one.
We (the daily playing fan base) **excluding RagnarokZ71** do not want raid matchmaking.
If I'm put in a hard raid matchmaking system with a level 27 I'm going to break things.
People will not stay for the full raid....it will be horrible.
I posted a thread in the recruitment forum needing raiders and had tons of requests in minutes. The way the system is now you at least know the person wants to finish the raid. They've put in effort to get in a group. My friends list is now full of past raid partners.
So in conclusion please no raid matchmaking. Keep us actively searching to form groups on our own.
Edit: Since we are receiving several replies I'll post my info. If you want to raid and need a group hit me up on PS4. PSN is SnoochShepard. I usually always have enough on to run it. We do not care if it's your first time or your twentieth. Thanks!
Edit2: surprisingly there has been overwhelming support for raid matchmaking. If the majority of players want it then hopefully they will put it in the game. Thanks for all the replies.
Edit3: There have been many good arguments made for raid matchmaking. I would have never believed my mind could have been changed but I'm leaning that way. An option to turn it on and off seems to be the best answer. Use it if you want. So long as it's not forced.

Why not just find a way to incorporate destinylfg or recruitment forums into the tower for different events? Then you could call the tower a "social hub" without lying.
-
Matchmaking doesn't stop you from making your own grps... Let the ppl who need matchmaking have a chance,
-
Why not both? Party of friends through separate lobby that matchmakers can't jump into. On the MM side, severe penalties for douchebag quitters. I hate that I have to spend upwards of 30 minutes looking for a group to run with. It's to the point where I rarely play now because it's hard to find the time.
-
Matchmaking for normal raid: minimum level 26 Matchmaking for hard raid: minimum level 30 Any players leave(bar from connection issues) loses any rewards they have collected.
-
Uh this is stupid.... Raid match making shouldn't affect you at all.... You'd still be able to create a fire team in orbit using forums. But it would let others who don't do that or can't get groups experience it...let them have match making. It doesn't hurt anything
-
Just envision COD Zombies, lots and lots of backing out of shitty rooms, but in the end you found someone (or three) to finally form a squad, but mant many others would benefit from a matchmaking as they do not get picked up from the tower as they have no mic or are not "skilled" enough. I have my crew I raid with so I don't see why there is any reason to care about this, those who want it should get it and the rest of us can simply continue to invite and raid with your respective bros
-
Or just do it for the normal and have like only 26+ like what you did with the IB
-
For the love of god, never do a raid matchmaking system. I would be up for a raid waiting room where you can invite people looking for raid/ nightfall, but no matchmaking.
-
Just make it a choice between private or matchmaking

Edited by Drake: 12/2/2014 3:31:16 PMIf there is a petition somewhere to not have raid matchmaking, I will sign it. Dont make this like the WoW LFR system.

I hate running raids with randoms. Always happy to add good players to the list. Bounddreamer on ps4 if you want to add another name to your roster of raid - ready folks.
-
So... Because you have a friends list full of people that you can raid with, other people shouldn't be able to take advantage of matchmaking? What is the deal with people trying to make the game impossible for casual players? I doubt I'll use matchmaking if they offer it, but it makes absolutely no difference to me if they offer it for other people to use...
-
I Respectfully disagree. I totally empathize with you in regards to the problems it brings, but I'm sure there are ways around those problems. At the very least there needs to be a better way of finding groups in the game itself. Random or otherwise or both (preferably) the game needs better party options. You have valid (very very valid) concerns, but most could be solved with better methods in-game for partying.
-
Well what would happen to checkpoints? Did you think about that?
-
I can't see many people who have beaten the hard mode raid and actually know what's up wanting matchmaking. Seems people with little to no raid experience want it. It's really not hard to get a group on line to do the raid, and you don't get paired with a 27 with blue guns wanting to do hard mode.
-
I wouldn't care if they put it in,I would never use it anyway
-
I find raids fine on the forum, but I would not be bothered if others had match making. What I do worry about is people complaining about the RAID and getting changes because it's to hard for them. Seems to be a trend. They can have matchmaking but with all the first time raiders entering, those raid party's would be a mess for a while.
-
I think a better system would be a LFG system. Where you could set requirements such as, you must be level 28+. No need for a blind matchmaking system like the one used for the Strike playlists.
-
Edited by Final fantasy: 12/2/2014 6:52:13 PMBungie cannot add matchmaking because - Player will join and stay idle all the time. Player will join and quit after finding few chests Player will join when atheon is almost destroyed Player will join and quit because the team has no 30s Player will join and quit when he see a lot low level players. Player will join and quit because he changed his mind. Player will join and quit after completing his "kill 10 vex majors or lords" bounty. or any other bounty.

There are plenty of people out there who do in fact, want matchmaking for the raid. I'm older, have a wife, 2 kids, a supervisor job, and just don't have 5 friends sitting around waiting to play the raid. I would like some way to try the raid without having to use match.com to play. I'm fine with no matchmaking on hard raids, or new raids, but considering how long the raid has been out, and the thousands of YouTube videos showing you how to do it, they should offer some form of matchmaking on the Vault of Glass by now. It's like there's a wall keeping players like me from experiencing the best part of the game and missing out on the best loot. It's bad enough I game on Xbox and miss enough already, I don't like missing even more. There are A LOT of people who feel this way, don't be ignorant about it.

i find this fascinating
-
You do realize the majority of players have not even attempted the raid, right? Give us some means of finding a group to play with ingame. No other modern MMO or FPS requires you to matchmake outside the game.
-
Edited by Cuttr1: 12/2/2014 6:44:58 PMI would like to see the "Turn on/off" option. If this is not an option then MM will most definitely break the raid.
-
Edited by Doc SoCal: 12/2/2014 6:44:04 PMMake matchmaking optional - Everyone wins... But that is not what this place is about most of the time..... It lil pricks wishing for people to NOT get things... for sport...
-
Agree with edit 3. Just putting something in-game like some form of bulletin for activities at the tower would also suffice.
-
I'm part of the daily playing fan base. Just stfu. If you don't want to use a match making system then turn your setting to friends only. Why limit a game because you don't want something? Get over yourself...
