I've noticed a few times now after I've downvoted a post it increments the counter alongside it. My impression of the counter has been that, since it didn't drop below zero to show negatively rated posts, it must only be showing the upvotes a post receives. I don't think that's particularly unintuitive to assume nor would I think I'm alone in that assumption. However, the counter seems to display the total number of ratings a topic has received instead, which means that when there's a heavily disliked post, it gives the [false] impression many people agree with or like it.
This seems occurs in each browser and, digging a little bit deeper, the counters seem to be displaying the ratingCount from the platform endpoint(s), so if this is merely an oversight I think the most appropriate resolution is simply to display the upvote count instead.
