Maybe as a starting point, but this is not always the case apparently. I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about SW since I don't read it, but the Yuuzhan Vong were not connected to it by the time they became relevant.

The Yuuzhon Vong couldn't be detected through the force, but force abilities still worked on them. So they are still connected to the Force, just couldn't be detected (they may have a weird connection to it).

In other words, using force on a separate object and then using the object against them however you see fit, or using things with actual physical consequences outside of an all permeating concept. IE - They don't have a requisite to be connected via the force for these to work. It's also quite clear about them being stripped form the force after the destruction of their world.
