Note: I'm talking about Fallout 3 and NV because they are closer to Elder Scrolls. My personal opinion is Fallout, for the following reasons:
1. The Atmosphere- The atmosphere in Fallout really captures the "post apocalyptic feel", with a feeling of constant danger and need of preparation for missions, the latter absent in Elder Scrolls.
2. Realism- In Fallout you really feel as if this world around you is real, even things like listening to the radio feel like a real one.
3. Characters- The characters in Fallout are also far better in my opinion, a great example of this is Dad in Fallout 3.
4. Player choices- Player choices in Fallout make a much greater impact on the world, both games aren't strong with choices but Fallout's are far better, and I love the karma.
5. Lore- In my opinion the lore is a lot better and there is so many side factions and people you wouldn't have known about without delving deeper, not saying Elder Scrolls doesn't have that, but I prefer Fallout's.

Anyway what is your opinion, and state why?
-
I've kinda lost my desire for a post apocalyptic game...the last of us was kinda the last game to do it
-
I loved both. Hard to say which i would choose but i mean who didn't love the alien blaster on fallout 3????
-
I have never played fallout but i am in love with the elder scrolls just because the sense of adventure and epicness. I know one thing for sure. I would rather play elder scrolls than destiny. Destiny just lacks on those qualities that you said fallout has better than the elder scrolls.
-
I literally cannot choose one. Both are amazing series of games.
-
elder scrolls or gonna be pay to play
-
Skyrim > Fallout 3
-
STOP MAKING ME CHOOSE
-
I pick Elder Scrolls 'cause I'm more into fantasy than the post apocalyptic scenarios. Then again, a post apocalyptic fantasy scenario in a similar style to Diablo is also cool.
-
New Vegas > any Bethesda RPG
-
I haven't played Fallout, I'm afraid, but played Skyrim, I won't be able to forge a viable opinion in this debate. All RPGs, or games generally, such as Mass Effect, have unique traits. These traits make each game harder to compare to eachother. My conclusion on Skyrim is that it's OK, probably not the strong-point in the Elder Scrolls series, but it's the only game I've played of it fully. Basically, I don't know because I don't know (similar to 'I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain').

I played the fallout series first so it will always be my favorite :)
-
Honestly BOTH
-
Fallout. I get sick of being asked if my Sweetroll was stolen.
-
It's not too fair fallout hasn't aged well but I still love it ^.^
-
Never could get into Fallout. Elder Scrolls though, I'll play that for hours.
-
Skyrim seemed far more epic and fantastic, but survival in fallout was just more fun.
-
Fallout 3 one of the best games I've ever played, but if we are talking overall series.... TES wins
-
Elder Scrolls if I had to choose. But I love both.
-
That's a hard one, but I have to go with the one that can run on my PS3 without crashing every thirty minutes.
-
I personally like the Elder Scrolls better, simply because I enjoy that genre of RPG better.
-
Hyperdimension neptunia because... REASONS
-
The Atmosphere- I think elder scrolls goes for a completely different atmosphere. But I do agree, Fallout gets it's atmosphere down perfectly Realism- I don't think elder scrolls is supposed to feel "real" as in possible. But it's still pretty good Characters- oh hell yeah by a long shot Player Choices- again, so true. Lore- eh, I thought ES had pretty good lore too

Edited by Tissic: 11/28/2014 10:03:49 PMThis is a pretty hard choice because I love both for pretty much the same reasons. I think I would have to elder scrolls manly just because I love that fantasy setting. Maybe it is also because I started playing it much longer than fallout. I will agree though that fallout has better character's.

I prefer blowing somebody's face off with a combat shotgun than repeatedly swinging a sword at somebody. I find it way more satisfying. Not that I hate Elder Scrolls or anything, I just prefer shooting to slashing. Also, the universe is more interesting in Fallout.
-
Id rather play elder scrolls the fallout if I was forced to choice.

Sword fighting>guns Survival apocalyptic setting>fantasy rpg setting Hard to choose
