I am so sick of people giving the 10 year excuse, there isn't going to be 10 years of destiny at this rate because there are so many people disgusted and pissed off with the game and bungie. You can stop with the 10 year nonsense because you really have about a 2 year plan that is going to happen at this point and then the game is done.

Could not agree more!!! Any kind of entertainment can not launch so lack luster and void of involvement with the excuse of "oh it'll be amazing 10 years from now". All they're basically saying is, "This is going to suck until we get more money from y'all". They've already had upwards of 6 years to develop Destiny and it still launched with nothing. Is 10 years, 2 games, 20 "expansions... cough cough actually just paid dlc...", and $500 more dollars per player (not including yearly subscriptions to Xbox live and PS+) really going to make this game better?
"Born too late to explore the world, too early to explore the universe."
Not only does this apply to the Destiny 1 story we're getting, it applies to the entire Destiny IP. We're shit out of luck because we're not going to get the full game, or just a competent story for another 9 and a half freaking years... Whoever picks up the Destiny special edition that has all 3 games with every dlc; much like the MCC, for only $60 is going to have an amazing time playing this game!!!!!!! Until then we're left with nothing to do but wait for a reason to "defend earths last city" that we can't even see! I feel zero urgency while playing any part of this game. Halo... We need to get there now to stop the bomb, save so and so, stop the flood, prevent the covenant, stop this or that, protect them, SAVE EARTH!!! There was always something that made me go "damn I need to get there!". Now it's just "ughhhh I have to do that strike again.... why??? Where the hell is the prison of elders? Why didn't they just kill it instead of putting it in jail? How do we know anything about the nexus? We didn't even know what the vex were until we went to venus? Why does the "exclusion zone" feel so empty? How are other guardians dying never to return yet my ghost (that wasn't even my ghost at first) could bring me back from the dead with nothing but maybe some bones or hunks of metal laying around?" and so many more questions.... Yet everyone's answer is "oh just go read the grimoire cards the story is in them" 1) If I have to leave the main source of info to understand the info, then Bungie has failed conveying said info... 2) THERE IS NO STORY IN THE DAMN GRIMOIRE CARDS!!!!!! It just raises more damn questions!!! And then their final answer is "Oh Destiny has a ten year plan, you can't expect them to do everything in one game." No I don't expect them to do everything in one game, BUT THEY CAN AT LEAST MAKE A GAME THAT STANDS ON ITS OWN!!! Even freaking WOW's expansions can stand on their own as a game! It may just be rinse and repeat level up and kill the boss, but the at least add freaking context! Destiny as a single game with no dlc could never stand on it's own, and no amount of paid dlc can ever fix that.

I agree with this completely. Is a game entitled to be excused be cause its labelled as "10 YEAR GAME IN THE WORKS." No that is complete BS. Actually why did they even consider 10 YEARS if this game already has people roaring up about how horrible the starting STORY is? 10 years is a very long time, they can probably outline the future of the game as it progresses at near perfection, but that isn't what was given. It was "Take this" okay now you know we are going to put 10 years into it so now expect us to fix it....eventually.Come on. A Raid boss dying in such a depressing death because it cant prevent itself from falling of f a cliff? Is that even "Raid" status? Can someone point me out to another game that has raid/end game content hp sponges that fall off a cliff?!

Edited by Spaw03: 11/27/2014 10:20:26 PM+1 Who could believe the 10 year hype? Especially when almost every other thing hyped about Destiny turned out to be false? Every doubter should watch http://youtu.be/UZ5BpeHVTWY This game feels like nothing more that a cash grab. I don't believe for a second that content, support, or even the servers for this game will be around/last 10 years. Once there is no money to be made, which I bet will be after a few years, Activison and Bungie will move on. I for one will not be purchasing the expansions. It's not that I have a problem paying for additional content. The problem is when it cost additional money to complete a game that I payed 60 dollars for. Each expansion is what 15 dollars? With the slated content to come in the expansion next month I fell like it would take 3 to make Destiny worth the 60 dollars I already payed.

Edited by MGrinchy: 12/1/2014 2:36:07 PMHey Spaw03, I did watch this video over the weekend before I saw your post, I wanted to delve a little deeper into the whole situation and was shocked to see it to be honest with you. The video makes loads of points, it would be great if someone from Bungie could make a response to it and clarify everything before it gets out of hand like it clearly is on this Forum. I'm not sure why one of the key writers left, why the storyline changed and why things like Sparrow Racing or a deeper symbolic meaning was changed/saved to be used as DLC. Bungie can you advise?

Well said. 1 more thing I would like to mention is, the finger pointing doesn't lie with just Bungie, afterall I have strong faith that Activision is the one pulling the strings as they are the financers. Truth to be told I refuse to ever support a game with any relation to Activision. CODs transformation from its WW2 era to today is just so painstakingly pricey. I got Destiny because I believe the "dream" designed by Bungie would turn a new leaf and be allowed to do as it wishes. But even if I play this game, its not what I wanted. If I had a choice to rewind time and give this game back I would do it as fast as I drop the Gatekeepers (2 seconds).

If I have to pay 20$ per DLC for 10 years to get a complete game with a complete story line that actually satisfies me, I'll be pretty sad; sad and broke.

Edited by MGrinchy: 11/27/2014 4:15:32 PMI just think it's disgusting that people have taken to the Bungie Forums to bitch and moan about a game they cannot stop playing. Whatever your expectations are you have to admit you cannot put the game down because it's so addictive and fills a void. I love the game, think it's going to get bigger and better. See you on the battlefield

Edited by Tevaull: 11/27/2014 10:27:36 PMI stopped playing the game the first month, I am done with it and only feel buyers remorse, enjoying Dragon Age inquisition which actually has a storyline and content.

Actually I have dropped it. My hours have reduced so much for the last couple weeks. I am making a new hunter, but its def not a game that is addictive as it was when i originally believed it. I got 2 other games I play along with this. It is prob the best AAA title for now. Giving the DLC a chance too and you can call it bitching and moaning, but you honestly believe saying 10 years gives it a free pass? To drop what was not anywhere near as awesome as it was advertised?

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, so am I. Bungie as with other developers cannot and will not be able to please everyone. A lot of hard work goes into developing a game, from the initial idea into making it a reality. I'm sure Bungie are trying to make the best experience for us, I have really enjoyed the journey so far. Here's to 10 years and hopefully, beyond. Chin up Bungie, you're doing a great job!

Edited by Tevaull: 11/29/2014 3:16:29 PMSee that is also a problem because I am under the impression that the vast majority of people are not happy with destiny. Everyone starts out happy, they don't get why people are upset with bungie or at the game. They play through the game and quickly come to the conclusion of.. "that was it?" Once this happens it is only a matter of time before their mood turns sour and the negativity starts pouring out. I think you will see destiny 2 and that will be the end of the destiny series because by that point the reputation will be so ruined that no one will even consider a 3rd. Sorry sir, enjoy the game while it lasts.
