I've seen a lot of people complaining about shotguns or asking why everyone uses one instead of fusion rifles and sniper rifles. I use a shotgun and there's a reason behind this fact,which I think is everyone's reason,the majority of the people who use it might have not thought about it yet,but here it is : We use a shotgun instead of another special weapon because it's needed,let me explain : shotguns are short range weapons,FR are normally mid range and sniper rifles are long range. The majority of Destiny maps are close quarters,so I don't see any reason to use a sniper rifle,unless it's to kill someone who's using one,the point is that if someone with a sniper rifle is trying to engage a fight against me,I'm usually able to avoid that fight going somewhere else,I don't use a fusion rifle since I use my primary which is normally an AR or HC for mid-range actions. Now let's say I'm not paying attention during a match,someone is hitting me from the back and I'm at 10% health,I immediately shelter myself behind a structure,I know the enemy is going to come,he's full health and I'm not,I can't avoid that fight,no matter which primary I have,he'll take my 10% health down before I kill him,what's the best kind of weapon to survive then? A shotgun,which will hopefully let me kill him before he does,I need a lot of damage in a short amount of time,the short range isn't a problem and I don't want him to know I'm charging my fusion rifle,he'd hear the sound and be aware. So that's the answer,we're not bastards,we use a shotgun because we have to,it's the only way to survive a short range fight which you CAN'T avoid.
