Can't speak for other brands but my Samsung has the option to change motion settings. Made sure to eliminate that soap opera effect the moment I turned the TV on.

it eliminates it by reducing the hz. So now you spent money for a higher hz tv yet now not using it. A plasma is 600hz. the reason why picture quality is amazing not to mention that the blacks on a plasma are amazing which helps with the quality. Only an OLED can beat a plasma in the true blacks in a tv picture. Prob is......who has $3,000-$10,000 laying around to buy a OLED tv.
