I thought I would start off the day with something besides common shitposts and bait threads. #OffTopic has really changed over the years, so here is a chance to talk about something different.
You were born, you live, breathe, think, and act upon however you were brought up. Why? For what reason do you think how you do? I'll change the direction of the conversation. Every night, before I sleep, I think. Here I am, about to sleep again. I slept yesterday, and the day before, and days before that. To me, it feels like I'm always laying here, and no time has passed. I don't remember much of today, or anything of the week, month, or year. All I know, is I'm here.
With these thoughts, each day seems to merge. You will find yourself, living in an eternal now, where there is no past, and there is no future. It all becomes one happen. You barely know your hometown. You barely know your state. You only understand so little of what all knowledge humans have written. This is only one planet, of the millions in our galaxy, and billions of trillions of galaxies.
We sit here, and joke around, having fun. Why? Our brain asks questions because it doesn't understand. Our brain doesn't even understand how it understands...
What if we knew it all? We couldn't learn anymore, and we wouldn't think anymore.
----------------------------------------------------
tl;dr What is life? Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more.
Tell me about your many thoughts about life, all your theories, your questions, anything.
Inb4 asking if I'm high
(No, it's just 3am, and I think at night.)
-
You know what I will not sleep tonight. That should mix things up a bit.
-
I think, therefore I am. Existence is me being right here on my couch living life. Not much more to it, scientists say things about existence, and I'm like I exist enough said, I don't care why.
-
We are germs in a Petri dish, except we have a neocortex so we can contemplate it all.
-
Alright, fine. We will just stick to shitposting...

This is all just an elaborate simulation being run by either your distant descendants or an alien race that discovered your DNA on a scorched, desolate planet. Someone said "I think, therefore I am" which is true. You are aware and so you exist, but can you be absolutely sure that the people you observe are real? Are you reading the words of a human right now or am I just a input into the simulation?
-
We just undergo natural processes. That's all.
-
Every night I dream when I'm half asleep. Of all the things I can be, all the things I might be, but I never dream about how I -blam!-ed up that day. Sleep is the time for rest, if you're up worrying about something, my advice, is to just stop worrying. I can't remember what happened in my life yesterday, because nothing happened. I don't know if I got in trouble, I don't know if I got shot, but I know I'm still alive. Technically, humans always live in the past. The time it takes images to travel from your eyes to your brain, isn't noticeable, but it's there.
-
"Seize the day."
Also Jesus and God thats how.
-
Holy shit that's deep
-
"I think, therefor I am". I don't tend to think on a large scale. It's pointless to do so. On a cosmic scale, as of right now we have had literally no effect. 99.99999999999999% of the universe has never even had light that's bounced off of our planet. I tend to think more towards life and death, reasons for living, and society and why it sucks.
-
Our life, our existence is simply what we make of it and what we want our life to be. However, if you look from a larger perspective, humanity means nothing to the rest of the universe. Humanity could be wiped out right now, and the galaxy, universe, etc. will never notice.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.
- HP Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu I feel like this speaks on this topic pretty well.
-
-
I think I have a perfect understanding: We're here. That is all.
-
There is no greater meaning to existence, other than existing, unless you give it one. I don't believe in religion, so that crosses off most people's reasons for existing. In all reality, I'm just here to enjoy my life, whatever that means doing at the time.
-
I don't understand anything. I don't even know why I'm alive on this planet
-
There's always more to learn for humans as a race, but only so much to learn as individuals.
-
Idk, didn't read. But this made me remember that I wish I could feel other peoples' consciousness. All my life, the only person I'm truly aware of is myself, and it's annoying. I can't feel how another person feels, I can't think how another person thinks, I can't see what another person sees, I can't be another person. I want to experience someone else's life, someone else's existence.
-
We are animals like all the rest trying to survive. That is all. Go help someone and make their life better.
-
Considering I created it . . .
-
I live I breath Existence is what I make of life That's why I do everything I love

Edited by The Fallen Zyzz: 11/19/2014 10:48:08 AMOur existence is merely a reaction to our environment. Nothing more, nothing less.

Edited by M37h3w3: 11/19/2014 9:47:01 AM
We sit here, and joke around, having fun. Why?
Because it causes us happiness, with happiness being a release of dopamine into our brains. If you're looking for purpose in life then there is no purpose beyond what we make for ourselves. Want to push the boundaries of human knowledge. That's your purpose. Want to care for those who can't care for themselves. That's your purpose. Want to give into carnal desires and simply pursue what makes you happy at the moment? That's your purpose.

I am a master. Sex drugs rock n roll

It kind of hit me like a train filled with anvils when I realised there wasn't much point to anything and now I just tick along because I'm biologically programmed to, nothing more.
