What the -blam!- is this shit? That's me, a level 30 Defender being one shotted by a level 25 Hunter in Iron Banner. That same hunter would finish in 2nd place on a team full of 29s and 30s.
I was told, explicitly, BY YOU DEEJ:
IN THIS POST:
Power. Does. Matter! (no, really)
Only players Level 20 and above can lead a Fireteam
Players below Level 20 can accompany more powerful friends
Players within 3 Levels can be competitive with each other
Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage
Wear your best (highest rated) armor
Players out of your league will seem like a Boss
1) Do you need help doing math? What is 30 - 25. Is it 3?
2) Do you need help with the definition of "out of your league" and "boss"?
3) Please explain why Level 25's are able to one shot level 30s, with regular weapons (nonheavy) in IB. Would it have been so hard to use a damage dampening function that ceilings at (opponentMaxHealth-%10) for the sake of making light level ACTUALLY matter? Seriously?
Bait and -blam!-ing switch dude. I resubbed my psn+ for the chance to make my raid gear shine, and now I wish I hadn't.

Edit: Because all of you are idiots
1) Yes my shot did not connect and kill the guy. At no point did I claim I wanted people to die when I looked at them because they are a lower level than me. Please feel free to spend precious moments of your life to tell me I missed, as I clearly had no idea.
2) If the light level damage dropoff curve is so pathetic in IB 2.0 that a decent shot from a non-heavy weapon is still a one-shot despite a huge level gap (>3), then your light level doesn't matter in practice. Only in theory. If it only matters in theory, this is IB 1.0
3) I typically do patrol mission bounties etc before I log out. I do not do these in my level 30 set because my level 30 set has way too much strength over disc/int thanks to rng. Is it so hard to imagine that a guy can log off in a not level 30 set and still be level 30 when he wants to?

"Lower-level players wielding fully-upgraded weapons should still be considered a very credible threat". This is on the bungie post for iron banner. Armor and your weapons matter he got you with his fusion rifle, you missed.
-
Looks like he got you fair n square
-
Nobody beats the Wiz.
-
A maxed out 77 wizard will one shot anyone at that range. Your level doesn't matter. Your defense rating and weapon attack matter.
-
If you also remember correctly Deej posted that lower level players with maxed weapons are still a viable threat. Don't go blaming everyone else if you can't play
-
U suck nuff said
-
It's because you were on Bravo Team.
-
His fusion hit you directly. You missed an only got his shields. Fusions are long range shotguns. His is probably maxed out. Your weapons don't scale with your level if they're maxed out there maxed. Sure your defense may be higher. But if his is fully upgraded it's no suprise that with a direct hit he ended you. Again, you missed.

Edited by tacoface1996: 11/19/2014 8:22:22 AMPower does matter but he also said you should watch out for low levels with fully upgraded weapons, hate to say it but im siding with deej on this one... Edit: lollll you completely missed the burst on him too
-
Well im 30 level hunter and i got 1 shotted by 24 level with copperhead mk shotgun while i shot him with fully Upgraded found verdict and he didnt die
-
Lower levels with maxed weapons are a credible threat.
-
Ok wait. Let me get this right..... your crying because you died one time by a fusion rifle? Dude chill, you missed your shots he hit his. Nobody ever said you would be a god as in you can't die. Yes it's harder for him to kill you then you to kill him at 5 levels apart but come on.
-
They did also say that the weapons matter maybe he had a good gun
-
1. He could have a fully maxed out fusion rifle which would be a decisive factor why you died so easily regardless of lvl difference. 2. He used a 77 Wizard at that damn near point blank range which really doesn't surprise me to see he one hit you. 3. From the looks of this video your like the majority of lvl 30s who get on Iron Banner and think they going to be all big stuff on it but it turns out you truly just suck at this game.
-
Did you have to teabag that control flag? What did it ever do to you? You Monster.

What, did you expect to automatically win every single Iron Banner game simply because you're level 30? Sure, level advantages are enabled, but it still takes a decent amount of skill to win as well.
3) Please explain why Level 25's are able to one shot level 30s, with regular weapons (nonheavy) in IB. You got shot at close range by a full burst of his 77 Wizard Legendary Fusion Rifle, which is one of the hardest-hitting weapons in the game. The 77 Wizard's Impact stat bar is almost full. Even if you're a relatively low level Guardian in the Iron Banner, I assume that you would do full damage to a level 30 Guardian if you had a fully upgraded Legendary or Exotic weapon (300 Attack). This is fair, since being level 30 doesn't make you more skilled than a level 29 or even a level 25. It just means that you got lucky with RNG in the Raid. Bungie also said this.
LEVEL ADVANTAGES ENABLED Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage. Your ATTACK rating affects how you inflict damage. Lower-level players wielding fully-upgraded weapons should still be considered a very credible threat!
TL;DR You got hit by a full burst from the 77 Wizard, the Legendary Fusion Rifle with the highest Impact, which was probably fully upgraded, at close range. Even though you missed horribly with your own Fusion Rifle, with only one or two particles from your own burst barely grazing him, you still took his Health down to the red zone.
-
Damage is based on weapons attack stat and your armor stat. Low level with maxed weapon would kill you just as quick as high level with same weapon. Difference is you should kill him way quicker if you're good enough to hit him.
-
You hip fired your fusion, and missed half of your shots. He tagged you with all his. Hmm i wonder why, thats what ads is for.

Attack and defense matter, Light level is only relevant for PvE gating, in the IB, everyone is level 20. So if someone has an attack of 300, they deal max impact damage since that is the attack cap for all weapons atm, just like Defense. And yeah, despite the changes, IB is still not supposed to be stomp everything a few lvls bellow you mode.
-
Remember when they said skill would still matter? Because he had it, and you lacked it.
-
He did shoot you with a 77-wizard, the gun with the most impact in the game, at close range
-
Lol sorry bro, but you got shrekt by a level 25😂 in iron banner. If I were you I would just stop playing iron banner because that's just embarrassing.
-
Maybe because you are fag who uses fusion rifles lol I'm glad he killed you
-
I will say man level is much more noticeable. I was playing with my vex and was doing 49 damage a head shot on some level 21s. I did get 1 shot also by a FUSION RIFLE by a level 20 while I am level 30. It did catch me off guard but at the same time, I myself walked right into thinking it wouldn't hurt me. Fusion Rifles are painful regardless.

This Iron banner is definitely better then the last one
