What the -blam!- is this shit? That's me, a level 30 Defender being one shotted by a level 25 Hunter in Iron Banner. That same hunter would finish in 2nd place on a team full of 29s and 30s.
I was told, explicitly, BY YOU DEEJ:
IN THIS POST:
Power. Does. Matter! (no, really)
Only players Level 20 and above can lead a Fireteam
Players below Level 20 can accompany more powerful friends
Players within 3 Levels can be competitive with each other
Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage
Wear your best (highest rated) armor
Players out of your league will seem like a Boss
1) Do you need help doing math? What is 30 - 25. Is it 3?
2) Do you need help with the definition of "out of your league" and "boss"?
3) Please explain why Level 25's are able to one shot level 30s, with regular weapons (nonheavy) in IB. Would it have been so hard to use a damage dampening function that ceilings at (opponentMaxHealth-%10) for the sake of making light level ACTUALLY matter? Seriously?
Bait and -blam!-ing switch dude. I resubbed my psn+ for the chance to make my raid gear shine, and now I wish I hadn't.

Edit: Because all of you are idiots
1) Yes my shot did not connect and kill the guy. At no point did I claim I wanted people to die when I looked at them because they are a lower level than me. Please feel free to spend precious moments of your life to tell me I missed, as I clearly had no idea.
2) If the light level damage dropoff curve is so pathetic in IB 2.0 that a decent shot from a non-heavy weapon is still a one-shot despite a huge level gap (>3), then your light level doesn't matter in practice. Only in theory. If it only matters in theory, this is IB 1.0
3) I typically do patrol mission bounties etc before I log out. I do not do these in my level 30 set because my level 30 set has way too much strength over disc/int thanks to rng. Is it so hard to imagine that a guy can log off in a not level 30 set and still be level 30 when he wants to?

Edited by CaptainChortles: 11/19/2014 8:45:21 PMThe level gap matters a ton. If you're a low enough level, your SUPERS literally stop OHKOing people, your melee becomes a 3HKO/4HKO and your grenades probably become garbage too. Fusion Rifles are extremely powerful, especially the 77 Wizard, so of course it can still OHKO you with all 7 pellets connecting. Your abilities seem to be impacted the most by the level gap so if you have a high Attack weapon, even if you're several levels below you can still make a dent.
-
A level 27 didn't one-shot my level 29 friend with shoulder charge, that's enough proof for me that you're full of shiz.
-
fully upgraded weapon can still hurt you. especially fusion or sniper.Iron banner is workin perfectly now in my opinion.Anything under 29 is tough to get kills there. 25-26-27 can shoot at you all day and not kill you if they dont have full upgraded weapons it seems. Stop being a damn whiner cause you died. if you cant do good in iron banner at lvl 30 you are doing something wrong.
-
It's a Fusion Rifle, well within its optimal range. Maybe if you were a few feet further back, or if they'd missed a shot. But you can't just say "I'm better than you, you can't kill me". Try doing some tests on damage per shot rather than crying when you get slammed in the face by a dozen point-blank fusion bolts.

Edited by bowill121: 11/19/2014 5:36:36 PMIf his weap is maxed out it'll DMG you just like anyone else holding it. You just do more DMG to him because his armor is lower. You should read the whole post.
-
I think the lvl of the gin matters most. Couldn't get many kills with SUROS. but I put up high numbers with a maxed out Fatebringer
-
They also said a lower level with fully upgraded weapons should still be considered a very real threat.
-
25's sure can dish out damage but they sure as hell cant take it.
-
So its five levels big whoop. How about you quit crying? Iron banner still takes skill clearly you have none get over it
-
I enjoy the part where you neglected to quote the "lower level players with fully upgraded weapons can be a creditable threat" you sir are the biggest baby!
people like you are ruining the game community!
-
Thats cause fusion rifles are -blam!-ING OP
-
Played Iron Banner yesterday as a level 21. Believe me, I especially feel the level differences when playing. I could barely scratch a level 29 Warlock who ended up on the other team for a few of my matches. I had to get really lucky tricking him into entering my Ward of Dawn when I had a shotgun just to even have a chance at taking him down, which by the way didn't happen often if at all. Otherwise even if he was unaware and I got a few first shots with an Auto Rifle on him he'd just turn and down me like it was nothing.
-
They said someone with a maxed out gun is still a threat read the patch notes...
-
They matter just very little. Like im 29. I shoot a lvl 30 with maxed shadow price it does 27 dmg and i shoot a lvl 25 it does 33. Fusion rifles are just powerful so if your getting 6 hits for 45 or 6 hits for 40 your still dead.
-
I don't know man, unless you changed your gear your character is a level 28. Getting wrecked by a level 25 is within the 3 levels you're complaining about
-
If you expect there to be that much of a difference your playing the wrong game.
-
Gear doesn't matter either. Blue weapons are still ridiculous.
-
Edited by Saint Leon: 11/19/2014 5:34:34 AMLook I've came up with a theory of how they did this. All weapons do the same damage corresponding to its upgraded damage. So if ur a lvl 30 holding a maxed out fusion rifle against a 25 with a maxed out fusion rifle they both will Inflict the same damage. The only difference is that lvl 30 armor is stronger and will soak up More bullets then the lvl 25. But here's the tricky part with fusion rifles. Since, maxed out fusion rifles regardless of ur lvl are one shot kills, that's how the lower level killed you. He had a maxed out 77 wizard. One shot kill. U missed him too by the way
-
Pointless rant about being pwned by a lower level. He will have had a decent gun is all. Could be his alt character he is trying to level rep to get armour that rnjeesus denies him from vault runs.
-
Level 25 hunter doesn't matter. It depends on what gun he had if he had a fully upgraded last word then of course he will kill you.
-
You got melted. Move left or right so some of the rounds don't hit you. Level one skill.
-
You conveniently omitted the part of the quote where they said low level characters with maxed weapons will still be a threat. Don't complain about something when you choose to ignore an obvious answer.
-
Because its a fusion rifle and he hit you with the full burst Levels def make a difference. I can really feel it when I get 1v1 with a 26 or 27
-
Edited by Psyko_Dad: 11/19/2014 5:00:41 PMIt does matter. When I play with my lvl 30 warlock and maxed out Suros and Judgement VI shotty (sue me) I can dominate an iron banner match. On more then one occassion I carried my team to victory. Yesterday I was playing with my lvl 25 titan, equipped with 2 rare armor pieces and without maxed weapons. I had an extremely difficult time competing and mostly ended up near or at the bottom of the list. Imo, this is how IB should be. And I still think IB should be a standard mode in Destiny. Bungie should come up with some other ideas that can be used as events.
-
Fusion rifle. What the hell did you expect?
-
It's a -blam!-ing fusion rifle A real good one to so the only thing you really showed us with that video was you getting out played and out gunned.
