What the -blam!- is this shit? That's me, a level 30 Defender being one shotted by a level 25 Hunter in Iron Banner. That same hunter would finish in 2nd place on a team full of 29s and 30s.
I was told, explicitly, BY YOU DEEJ:
IN THIS POST:
Power. Does. Matter! (no, really)
Only players Level 20 and above can lead a Fireteam
Players below Level 20 can accompany more powerful friends
Players within 3 Levels can be competitive with each other
Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage
Wear your best (highest rated) armor
Players out of your league will seem like a Boss
1) Do you need help doing math? What is 30 - 25. Is it 3?
2) Do you need help with the definition of "out of your league" and "boss"?
3) Please explain why Level 25's are able to one shot level 30s, with regular weapons (nonheavy) in IB. Would it have been so hard to use a damage dampening function that ceilings at (opponentMaxHealth-%10) for the sake of making light level ACTUALLY matter? Seriously?
Bait and -blam!-ing switch dude. I resubbed my psn+ for the chance to make my raid gear shine, and now I wish I hadn't.

Edit: Because all of you are idiots
1) Yes my shot did not connect and kill the guy. At no point did I claim I wanted people to die when I looked at them because they are a lower level than me. Please feel free to spend precious moments of your life to tell me I missed, as I clearly had no idea.
2) If the light level damage dropoff curve is so pathetic in IB 2.0 that a decent shot from a non-heavy weapon is still a one-shot despite a huge level gap (>3), then your light level doesn't matter in practice. Only in theory. If it only matters in theory, this is IB 1.0
3) I typically do patrol mission bounties etc before I log out. I do not do these in my level 30 set because my level 30 set has way too much strength over disc/int thanks to rng. Is it so hard to imagine that a guy can log off in a not level 30 set and still be level 30 when he wants to?

Edited by Black Rob: 11/20/2014 11:54:28 AMLevel does matter, but you are not invincible. The level of your opponent does not reflect the level of thier guns. A level 20 may die easier, but their maxed out guns can still one shot you. High level=high defense Low level=low defense Gun levels do more damage. So a maxed out gun will do optimal damage on even a high level character. Basically you should have shot first... Edit. Just watched your video. You didnt hit him. Sorry bro iron banner isnt broke. You are.
-
It does matter because I am not one shifted by level 29s using shoulder charge which is pretty signifigant

I do see where you're coming from. The power difference still isn't what was advertised, but there is a noticeable difference. Example: my Last Word (maxed stats, aggressive ballistics) used to do 73 per ADS headshot. Now I see it regularly be above 80. This isn't a huge increase, but it can make a difference. With that boost, 3 body shots can kill as well instead of 4-5. Still, I do agree with you. The difference in power between levels doesn't match up with what we were told it would be.
-
I agree is still way to conservative.
-
It does matter. If you pay attention there is a very distinct difference when fighting enemies of different levels. As a 27-28 depending I can guarantee that it is easier to kill 27 and below and harder to kill 28 and above. If you can't tell that much from simply playing, then perhaps you should check again.

Edited by AytonHunter: 11/19/2014 4:04:45 PMI watched the video and saw you instantly switch to your Fusion Rifle... then I watched you try to kill that Hunter with it... And then I disregarded EVERYTHING you posted here. Firstly, a lvl 25 can have a fully upgraded gun so the damage will definitely matter. You either have shit defence or your just generally bad... which brings me on to... The second point is that your one of those Destiny players I despise. I will mention again that you INSTANTLY switched to your fusion rifle which, by all means, can kill in ONE shot. In the clip you didn't have "terrible" aim, but you clearly missed him by a long shot, probably hit him a little in the hip at best. The Hunter was also using a Fusion Rifle, but he shot it much closer to you.. and probably had better aim (headshot even). Third and Finally, you seem to disregard the fact that PvP does rely on skill too. Just because you've got fully upgraded raid gear and fully upgraded guns DOES NOT mean you can just run around like a fool, using no tactics and heading straight into a fight with another fusion rifle user, who happens to have better aim than you. Please stop QQing when, from that clip, it's quite clear you're just not very good at PvP. I'm not saying Fusion Rifle users are terrible, but -blam!-, how about switching to a Sniper for once? Or actually using your Primary, instead of relying on your 1 shot weapon and the hope that your the first one to get the heavy ammo. EDIT: Mainly, it was the clip itself that made me give this response. However, given without the clip, I can agree that a lvl 25 should have considerably less damage on a fully geared 30 Titan. I've actually had fights with Auto-Rifle dudes, who happen to been a lower level but have a better fully upgraded gun (Compared to my Atheons Epilouge which isn't fully upgraded) and have dominated me. It just so happens that this clip feels like a bad example of all the points you made.

Why do people have to be so stupid these days?
-
...okay.. he landed every hit with his fusion rifle, obviously you're gonna die if his impact is up there even if your level is higher by five.
-
Edited by HYPNO-PANDA-: 11/20/2014 1:56:58 AMI got stuck with a fusion grenade form a lvl 25 and didn't die...
-
You missed soooo bad, you are just bad at crucible. Do better.
-
Weapon and armor stats matter. They have lower armor stats, so they die easier. BUT their weapon stat is around the same for every player.

There are a couple of problems with this post. 1) You shouldn't be given invincibility over someone 5 levels below you. Why should you? For all we know you got lucky getting your level up to 30, been handed your gear easily from RNG etc. And if that is the case then why does that make you better than the next guy? It's really pretty childish seeing level 30's complain that they're not powerful enough. Effectively you're asking for everyone else to be nerfed so that you can rule. 2) You should be more powerful, yes. But this issue is not with the Hunter and his level, it's with the Fusion Rifle. We all know that this gun is ridiculous, but there's nothing you can do. Making it a -shot kill would render it useless. Longer charge times perhaps, but I don't think that would do much to stop the infestation. 3) I work full time, and see my partner other times because our work hours are staggered. I like to think I'm good at PVP now, I come first almost every game so I do feel like my opinion matters at least a little when I say this : Why should a snotty child who plays 24/7 getting lucky with gear, accumulating enough Strange Coins to buy the Exotic arsenal, and camps with Fusions, Shotties or Launchers be given that much of an advantage over me - a guy that can actually aim and shoot quite well? If I head shot someone three times with a handcannon, that bastard had better die, I don't care if he's glowing with his level 30 entitlement - I was better, and I shot better.
-
Bait and switch except you didn't actually give them any more money. Sometimes you are going to die to a lower player. It's gonna happen. Get over it.
-
I killed a level 23 bladedancer during his super in close quarters. I feel like that's proof enough that level definitely matters this time.
-
lol, you do realize DeeJ did say that maxed out weapons on a lower level char should be considered a threat????
-
Edited by Cottonball 117: 11/19/2014 2:17:38 PMGotta say though a shinegan e user went on a rampage in a game I played, he was level 25 and was tearing everybody up, including myself. Something is just not right about that
-
You are confusing "power" with "level" Anyone level 20 or higher can use weapons with the same attack POWER as you can. Since Fusion Rifles are a one shot kill weapon, this means that if every shot of it connects with you then you being level 30 is irrelevant. Deej never said that LEVEL matters. There is no damage reduction or bonus simply because of your level and nothing else (like there is with PvE). This is the way it should be by the way, making an event exclusive to just level 30s would be stupid.
-
I don't really understand posts like this. I haven't played IB but when I do I'm not going to complain about getting killed by someone much lower than me. I suck at PVP. I'm well aware of that. I just chalk it up to being horrible. Now when I melee someone 3 times only to have them die 5 seconds after they've killed me is a completely different story.
-
Tbh man you just got wrecked, don't blame the game, blame yourself for missing that first shot.
-
Edited by Beastly451: 11/19/2014 5:44:06 PMIt wasnt JUST a non heavy weapon, it was a dang fusion rifle, that he landed all of its hit on you. You're an idiot..
-
Lol you got messed up you should probably take destiny back to gamestop and who uses Monte Carlo in pvp
-
The entire post is invalid because you got killed by a fusion rifle, every shot connects you are dead.
-
Here here son here's your teddy bear and a juice box for all that whining and temper tantrum. It'll be ok

Edited by CaptainChortles: 11/19/2014 8:45:21 PMThe level gap matters a ton. If you're a low enough level, your SUPERS literally stop OHKOing people, your melee becomes a 3HKO/4HKO and your grenades probably become garbage too. Fusion Rifles are extremely powerful, especially the 77 Wizard, so of course it can still OHKO you with all 7 pellets connecting. Your abilities seem to be impacted the most by the level gap so if you have a high Attack weapon, even if you're several levels below you can still make a dent.
