If possible with a future update could you guys include a colour blind toggle in the settings which would help people with this particular affliction?
I find it incredibly difficult to distinguish between the void shielded enemies and arc shielded enemies due to the colours being similar, if possible could one of them be changed to a more distinguishable colour such as yellow (for arc perhaps) or black/grey (for void perhaps).
Additional colour problems for people with colour blindness discovered by myself and the other posters in this thread are as follows;
The colour of an unequipable Exotic is greyed out and looks similar to uncommon items, accidental dismantles are horrific.
The colour of Rare and Legendary engrams are very similar.
The minimap can at times be unreadable due to the opaqueness and the background colour, especially when trying to discern the location of enemies.
This would be greatly appreciated by the people such as myself who find this a relatively minor but frustrating and easily fixed problem an issue.
I'm sure many others will suffer with this issue or just simply find a greater difference in colour useful for at-a-glace distinguishing of enemy shield type.
Help the poll please.

I am not color blind, but its only fair to add this feature for those that are.
-
I support this. My friend can't use the radar at all.
-
Meh I don't need it but you have my support.
-
Wtf guys really. We. Need. Colorblind. Assist.
-
All games should automatically have this.

BUMP - Any Bungie admins wish to comment please?
-
Yes it would be very helpful..

Amen. Peach, OP. Even the Bungie dev I sometimes play with agrees it's a good idea... but there's still no support for us in game. Another thing I have problems with is player identification in PvP. I either shoot my team mates a lot or delay shooting an enemy because I can't tell their color like a non color blind person.

Edited by JTPooFace: 11/27/2014 10:35:39 AMPlease consider, if you are not yourself colour blind, how it would feel if you were... and how easy it would be to implement a change to correct this...

I started a similar topic (but focused just on Engrams), just yesterday. Looks like you beat me to it! Good job, man!
-
Although I'm not color blind but I support anything that will help ppl. Sign.
-
I also wish the crosshairs/sights could have color customization.
-
Good job guys! Great to see such support... Come on Bungie! Sort it out...

This must suck for colourblind players, but you can just remember which enemies have which shields. Captains have Arc Shields, and so do Knights and Harpies when the Epic skull is on. Minotaurs have Void Shields, and so do Psions with Epic on.
-
Yeah it's needed, tired of telling my friend what colour his engrams are.
-
I feel threatened by adding options even though they'd be completely optional. Jk. Bump.

-
Bungie please explain why this isn't already in the game.
-
Yes and while you're doing that. How about a darker cursor, like black, an opaque minimap and manual control of the torch! The vault of glass spirit bloom route is way too dark for my eyes. I'm not colourblind but I do have low vision.
-
I'm not colour blind but if it helps others play and enjoy the game then it's a damn good idea Hope all you colour blind Guardians get what you need.

BUMP Please spread awareness.

This would be great, also for engrams legendary and rare look the same to me on the ground.
-
Bump because this is actually a good suggestion

I too am colorblind. I can only notice two shield types. Yellow and blue. At least that is what it looks like to me. When I learned that there is a third i began to search for it but still can not see it lol. Here is something else I almost did. When you have an exotic armor/weapon equipped, all the other exotics of different types (helmet, gauntlet) are greyed out. If you have a green item that you picked up and wish to dismantle, the greyed out exotic looks green too. Luckily for me I read the word "exotic" halfway through dismantling. So, yeah, "greyed out" items need to be "greyed out" and dimmer. The idea is higher contrast.
