I experienced one of the best moments in Destiny recently. My fireteam was loitering in the Skywatch, waiting for a specific public event to occur. There is a really difficult Hive warsat event that I wanted to take on again.
We were about 45 minutes into dispatching these quickly regenerating mobs when something occurred. First it was it was the Hive. They started streaming out if their spawns, way more than usual. They were a good mix of low and mid tier enemies. Then, the Fallen responded and started to stream out of their spawns into the bowl shaped depression on the map. This was when we knew we were in the middle of some sort of ground war event between factions.
It was -blam!-ing awesome.
It was interesting to see the enemies ignore us to fight each other. We would generate threat and get some attention while thinning their ranks, bit more would steam out of the spawns. Harder enemies. Veterans with yellow names and shields. We fought hard as a team to survive their war. It was such a hard challenge to endure the fights.
When it was over, and the remaining enemies pulled back to their spawns, we were all talking about how this was the most amazing event we had experienced in Destiny and we wished it hadn't stopped.
I can't wait to see what else may be in store for us.
