I'm a Titan. Well my primary is at least. I've wanted to be a Titan since the classes were announced.
"The first Titans built the Wall, and gave their lives to defend it. Now, you stand in the same high place, steadfast and sure, protecting all who shelter in your shadow."
That passage is what I wanted to live up to. But instead, I feel like Destiny casts both Titans and Warlocks as more of a Hunter based character. Sure, skill trees are different, and abilities differ as well. But I spend more time exploring the wilderness than I do defending or leading the charge from or against the Darkness.
The only times that I feel like Titan should feel like is during cutscenes and strikes. If there was some way to capture the spirit of the class you play as, it could be a very interesting improvement upon gameplay and story.
My idea is that each class has their own area that their Vanguard mentor or Hunter Rep is stationed in, not all in the same place like it is now. For instance, over by the hangar there is a rather large cluttered alcove down below everything with Hunter banners, trophies and a map with Hunter knives sticking out of it. It is so cool, and would be an excellent place for a Hunter den.
If anyone has any ideas or feels the same, please share your thoughts! I'll definitely add them to the post!
Thanks for reading!
Edit: Wow! I know there aren't a lot of replies, but the replies are surprising very positive! Keep up the ideas! I'll add them on tonight! Thanks for the positivity folks! #TYBG

something doesnt feel right? Relax, breath, use more lube, put it in slow. It will be ok
-
more damage mitigation from Armor, or slightly higher Armor rating on Titan gear = problem solved.

Actually this is kind of a cool idea. They could also give you special mission(s) and tasks (bounties for example) to do by your specific class. Such as Hunters could always go on a scouting mission and have actual challenges in them. Such as a very tough ultra, etc. I don't know, this game definitely is missing a lot of things it could have but never hurts to suggest for Destiny 2!

Separate areas in the tower for each class is an excellent idea. There's no reason for them to all be together and a themed area would make it feel a bit different.
-
Go do a templar fight without teleport and conduct a titan defense on the open teleport pillar. Then you'll get that feeling. Oh wait, I forgot the community is just set on pushing things off ledges instead of enjoying the content. I've encountered 3 people this week I led through VOG that didn't even realize you could beat the encounter by making the Templar's health read zero. Go stand in the Templar's precious circle and bubble tank him and a few minotaurs and you'll get the feeling you desire. Yes, minotaurs do spawn on the fight for those without a clue lol.

Try role playing. Make up your own backstory for your characters. After all, no one knows them better than you right?
-
I've been thinking/feeling the same way. My idea would be to create a social reward type of a system. As you group with others, during the mission cool down you have the option of rating their play style. I know that this may open the door to some serious flaming and potential negative manipulation, but when dudes carry my sorry butt through some of these strikes, I wish there was a way that I could pump them up a bit.
-
I like the idea but I think that is the point of the factions
-
Yeah, like maybe you could get special tasks or missions from these "dens"(of course, the other areas wouldn't be called that, they'd be something more like Titan's Keep and Warlock's Study) There would be a 'mentor' there that would give out these special tasks suited to your character's class. Say, if you were a Titan, one of these tasks could be something like leading a Fireteam into a special strike that's leveled just for that mission, like how they do it for the thorn bounty. Or if you're a hunter, it could be something like killing a certain named enemy, again, from a special leveled story or patrol mission. For warlocks, it could be something to the effect of searching for some relic of the golden age that's been lost to a certain group of enemies. Then when you find it, you actually learn stuff about it.

There is a reason the mentors are all together they are the leaders of all the guardians in the city with authority over their respective class they stay in the tower control room to organize and make sure everyone works together (that's the theory anyway) but I could understand maybe them setting up new vendors one for which is the the armor version of the gunsmith and a separate vanguard mark vendor for the armor classes

Titans should be more of a tank too. I choose a titan because I thought it was similar to a warrior (in WOW). I wanted so be able to absorb more dmg but do less....and really "help" the team...but its not really that way. Sure there are times and situations, but its just that, situation only.
-
Yeah I fell for the "tank" mantra too. My Titan now rests on the closet at level 27 while I play with my purple spitting Warlock.
-
Play as a Defender in Control games types in the Crucible. One Titan can stand in their bubble shield and defend a control point on their own for a long time without a super to counter the bubble
-
I think high armor should have a higher damage reduction. Right now the damage difference isn't very large. When I play a max agility, low armor hunter, I can take about as much punishment as the titan. (I know, it's because of the massive AoE damage explosions from minotaurs and bosses), which negates any damage reduction to next to zero. You'd expect the titan to just be... tankier.

They said a while back that there was going to be an area of the tower for each class, idk if that got dropped or if it will be added later.
-
There's nothing left for us to defend, aside from a single city. We are forced into the role of scouts because we must be. We lost the war with the darkness, so now we must re insert our foothold. We can't strike the darkness at it's core without first regaining some of our former strength.
-
Expanding the Tower a little and having different areas for each class isn't a bad idea. It might be cool if they had the NPCs walk between the specific class areas and the big table area to convene for talks with the Speaker from time to time to add a little more life to them. Maybe have the map NPCs be a little more useful and put markers for key NPCs on their maps so you wouldn't have to search too hard to find them if you just want to quickly interact with them. Maybe better than how they just mumble to themselves now.

I came across a post last week regarding character roles and building your legend. They made a good point saying that if we as a community wanted something bigger than what Bungie has given us, then it would be up to us to lay down the foundation. I firmly believe that change can only be brought about through majority support. B!tching and moaning about yada-yada-yada does nothing. If we find a way to change the overall feel of the game or how we play it and it catches on ... Bungie HAS to follow suit. In this case, you mention wanting the play and feel more like what you believe your Titan was designed for. Though, I don't feel the same ... I do feel that my vision of a Titan is perfect. I like your idea of having a Titan-only spot where Titans meet. Titan-only bounties. To look even further/bigger picture; they could require a 3-Titan fireteam and be matched up with a 3-Warlock/Hunter fireteam .. or even a 2-Titan fireteam that gets matched up with a 2-Hunter/Warlock fireteam for specific missions. During these missions, each class has separate objectives that lead to the final boss. Obviously, this isn't exactly something that the community can control, but ... if we plant the seed in some form of this or other, it will catch on.

As a Hunter, I hold a good amount of pride in my class. I think this is a good idea, and one Bungie should take a look at. I've always thought there should be an NPC presence in the game world. A mining station on Mars, a research team on Venus, a salvage ship on Earth, you get the point. These NPC's would need resources, protection, and information, which could be delivered in a similar manner to the beacon missions in patrols, but in a more intense, combat focused manner. Though I like to think I'm helping the city by completing bounties and missions, to actually get to SEE it happen would be great. Say 100 people gather husk flakes for Banshee? Have him sell a rare weapon the next day, which has some kind of connection with the Hive. 1,000 people do the Cabal Command bounty? Have a more intense, rewarding Cabal-Orientated bounty the next day. Just my thoughts. --Aegis, a Hunter.

Titans should be able to pure melee as a tank like with the Croata sword

Hello guys! Just a quick question. I just got a pair of Titan gauntlets and a Hunter's face mask after completing some strikes. I am a Warlock. What can I do with these items? besides discarding them. Thanks for the help.
