Regarding Xur (DeeJ Should Read)
A LOT of players are upset with Xur selling all their weapons that they put time and effort into earning, and I completely understand where you're coming from BUT...did you really [b]earn[/b] them? The weapons we receive are for the most part completely random rewards; [b]yes[/b], you did do something to get the reward but nothing has a set reward except for items exclusively earned in the Vault of Glass. The Last Word is not a weapon that can ONLY be rewarded in the Vault of Glass, but has a better chance of earning there. Now if Xur where to sell the Vex Mythoclast, then and only then could I understand players being upset about it because it's the only Exotic Weapon the is only actually earned(not counting those earned from bounties because those have become pretty common) and earned from completing the Vault of Glass.
In my opinion, Xur shouldn't sell Exotic Weapons due to the fact that they are meant to be the "rarest" and hardest weapons to get your hands on; if he's going to sell weapons, then they should be Legendary Weapons and nothing rarer or more common.
*If not that, then Xur should sell his own arsenal of weapons that can only be purchased with Strange Coins and make their rarity "Strange." Make them look awesome and weird at the same time, but them being weapons that can only be obtained from Xur and not from drops.* <Idea from a buddy of mine.>

I have 2 ideas on a new way people should earn exotics. First idea is to have an exotic bounty for every single weapon. It would give sort of a background story to all exotic weapons instead of just a one-of-a-kind perk that no other gun has. OR we could get some use out of the gunsmith to where he crafts different exotic gun parts to craft your own exotic gun. You could also get the exotic weapon parts from Nightfall strikes and other random encounters without actually getting the full gun. The weapon parts could vary from basic weapon bases (pulse rifle, fusion rifle, auto rifle, ect) then add in the second weapon part (full auto, glass half full, ammo regen, ect...) For example, making and ice breaker would require 4 different weapon parts 1 Exotic Sniper Rifle Base [u] 15 Ascendant energy or some type of legendary obtainable material 50 Weapon parts 1 Exotic Shard (still obtainable by xur for 7 strange coins)[/u] 1 Ammo Charge (a weapon part that could also be used to make the Invective) [u] 50 Special ammo synthesis 20 Patrol Materials (relic iron, spinmetal, etc...) 25 Weapon Parts[/u] 1 Solar Charge (which could be obtainable by killing a raid boss or completing a nightfall strike) Once you obtain all of the weapon parts you bring them to the gunsmith and you combine them (with a good amount of glimmer of course) to make your new exotic weapon. All Exotic weapons should have an alternative way to get them, as some people have worked days and days and days trying to get an exotic that they might never get just because theyre not lucky or xur never sells it. Some people have gotten some of the best exotics (gjallahorn, ice breaker, etc...) just by simply opening up a chest in a patrol or going 0-20 in the crucible, as for some people who actually work hard and dont get them simply because they "arent lucky." Just something to think about..

Obviously, most of the people commenting on this topic must be PvP players that don't play other stuff where they would have better odds at getting Exotic Weapons. How sad...

What about people who got mida multi tool, Monte Carlo, hawkmoon, thunderlord, universal remote? I want all these guns I do 3 nightfalls 3 raids and 3 heroics a week and I'm still missing guns that people I've been helping level up to 23 have gotten from legendary engram drops. All the people who have one of those guns but no last word are ecstatic this week but yet again I'm left with nothing to buy or level until EVERYONES weekly reset happens and we ALL have chance to get new loot. I don't need any more than 250 ammo synth at any one time.

Does it rely matter you can oh take one at any given time Eventually everyone will acquire this weapon I mean I had enough coins to buy but I didn't cause I don't like hand cannons

Exotics are not meant to be rare, just unique in design/appearance/perks compared to legendary weapons.

I disagree entirely. Xur is an avenue of advancement that is intended to counter the uneven nature of RNG reward distribution. He does an excellent job of that.

He is, by design, a counterbalance to RNG. So no, in my opinion he shouldn't stop selling exotics as, even inlcuding exotic bounties since receiving them is also RNG, all exotics are currently obtained by random chance. Exotics are about prioritizing that equipment slot, one exotic above another in order to optimize your overall performance, not flaunting that you got lucky while others did not. (Coming from a player with well over 26 exotic items not purchased from Xur)

1 ReplyI agree. I'd also say that strange coins are just as RNG based as random loot drops, and Xurs stock is also governed by RNG. The difference being you can earn strange coins through weekly strikes. Bounties are also random, though take much more effort than any other way of obtaining exotic weapons.

If that is the case, then why the f would I get thorn/bad juju/ invective bounties at least one time a week. You have a misconception on what exotic means. Good job on offering up an alternative option for him. But he is working as intended. This game would be dead without him.
