I've been doing the raid for a while now and I think it's time for me to express my feelings about the loot table in the Vault of Glass. As many of you have experienced, a lot of the rewards/drops don't really reflect the purpose of the raid. The raid was put in place so us Guardians could unlock special gear and have a very fun and challenging gaming experience. However, the total experience of the raid is often deflated because of (often) boring and forgettable drops.
I myself am "lucky" enough to have a Lv30 character. I was blessed on my very first raid to receive the raid chest and gauntlets and the boots on my third attempt. I do also have a Lv28 Titan and Lv28 Warlock, both of which have completed the raid with no such luck.
This is where the salt begins..
Last week, for my hard raid run, I got the Fatebringer. Granted I was very, very excited about this but the joy of the drop was taken away during Atheon. For my Atheon drop I recieved the Aspect of Glass (which I already have), three energies and three shards? After the drop, I was infuriated. It quickly occurred to me that someone at Bungie honestly thought that defeating the games hardest challenge should be rewarded with a useless, cosmetic ship and some ascendant materials for an already maxed out character.
Last night, I attempted the normal raid with my Lv28 Titan... Again I only recieved ascendant materials and for my Atheon drop.... Chatterwhite and more shards. Yes I recieved the shader that I have already recieved 5 times. Though I was disappointed with my hard raid drop, this one actually upset me more. Chatterwhite, a shader, should not be part of the loot table for every raid. Chatterwhite is in the game to flaunt to other that you have completed the raid. Easy fix.... Why not just have Chatterwhite drop only on the first time you complete the raid? Is there really any need to have multiple Chatterwhites?
All I'm asking is that the team at Bungie takes a deep, hard look at the raid drops. Do you guys honestly feel that these items are compensation for such an accomplishment?
TL;DR
The loot tables are all wrong. Make the raid, the highest endgame achievement, more rewarding.
EDIT 11/18
Just wanted to share with you all that I cleared the hard raid on all three of my characters last week. I recieved only shards and the sparrow with two and my titan recieved all shards, sparrow and the raid boots.

The raid rewards(shards and energy only drops) wouldn't bother me as much if the raid wasn't so laggy, buggy, and generally aggravating. The raid itself and its challenges are not all that difficult. It's the bugs, the unnecessary kill volumes, and general vagueness that make it that way. I wouldn't mind having a week where I didn't get anything but shards and maybe a gun I already have if it wasn't so aggravating. You have a fireteam of six. If everyone isn't spot on in Hard mode, you're looking at some serious frustration and more wipes than a diaper bag. Then you have people that didn't pull their weight and they get better drops than the rest of the group pretty often. Another frustrating thing is that when something does drop, it's usually a piece of armor you already have. There is no system in place to stop you from getting ten straight zealot gauntlets. And that's kind of absurd. If this game was an actual MMO with the typical content of an MMO, then fine, leave the raid loot tables as they are. But this game is a ghetto MMO that has a good FPS element to it.

Edited by Lordsa Jar-Jar: 11/14/2014 11:07:15 PMYou got the best hand cannon in the game and you're complaining? GTFO DUDE If I get one item that I didn't have over all 3 of my alts I'll consider myself lucky that week. You guys are clearly spoiled from other rpgs .

Agreed and happy you got fatebringer. Can't wait for xur to sell it! 😜
-
They've made the raid drops suck to increase the longevity of it, in an attempt to make up for lack of content. I posted an example of a system that would allow players to get up to one piece they need a week, without changing the current loot system. Feel free to take a look: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/78273374/0/0

Dude I've done the raid 5 or 6 times and not a single piece of raid gear. My "lucky" day was when I got the ghallahorn and Atheons Epilogue, and besides that I've only have the sniper. Not even a ship dude or a sparrow, much less raid gear

Vex only drops on atheon. Its rare but it happens.
-
I don't even understand why we get rewarded with ascendant material at all. All the Raid legendary items can be dismantled for ascendant material anyway. Just reward players with items instead of material JUNK! No one is going to store 5 Atheon's Epilogue or have 5 class armor pieces that they already have. I have played this game from Day 1 and it seriously pisses me off that i have to get LUCKY in order to maximize my level. That is complete and utter rubbish and goes against all RPG Standards. Players already have to fight their way through am incredibly tough challenge. The reward needs to he there at the end of the day. I swear if I didn't have friends and a clan who meet regularly to play Destiny I would be done with Bungie and Destiny.

Edited by MrSchindig: 11/16/2014 2:45:56 AMWhen the game was being created there was alot more to it such as a player ran economy and to have a player ran economy you have to have a random loot system....after chopping the shit out of the game they took out the player ran economy trading and all the other cool things that would be in it but they didnt take out the random loot system which makes no sence to have without trading and such.... here is my citation... http://youtu.be/UZ5BpeHVTWY

I think the obvious solution to this would be to adjust to loot table, but if Bungie wanted to do a more unique work around they should add a raid emblem, and then make your chance of receiving weapons/armor better with emblem/shader/class item equipped. Without the items you have a higher chance at shards/energies which can be extremely useful as well when leveling characters. This would be like Destiny's unique version of need/greed.

Takes away all motivation to try after it happens to you over and over again. Enough times getting skunked will take away my desire to play considering you only get 1-2 shots per week depending on level.

I have had so many chatterwhitesssss... Also I've been doing the Raid on two hunters and a Titan... And can't get to level 30! Even doing it on hard. I'm so fed up going through the VOG to only get ascendant material now.. Not even a weapon. My hunter has been waiting for gloves for weeks now. I've played the Raid 6times a week 1x normal 1x hard(before the patch) on all 3. now I barely get the chance to play it a couple of times. 4 of my reg team are lv30 and myself and the other hunter just keep being stuck at lv29. The randomising takes all the fun out of feeling like you've achieved something.
-
Completed my second hard vog raid this evening - shards and chatterwhite again. Seriously not worth the effort.
-
Edited by Bluefoxx3: 11/15/2014 11:39:41 PMI just don't like the randomization of the portal teams for Atheon as well as all the bugs that keeps hitting us. I still need gloves so that I can rearrange my gear and use my exotic helm instead of exotic gloves for my Titan, but all I ever get are the useless ships and helmets that I already have enough duplicates of, everything else are shards and energy from the checkpoints leading up to Atheon.

Its called RNGesus.

Cosmetic items have higher drop rates than gear. I see no issue with this.
-
One of my clan mates have scored nothing but weapon drops and materials. Outside of the helmet, he has no other raid pieces. At the end of the third week of this month he will have roughly 146 shards and 56 energy. Now wtf is he going to use all those shards on?
-
Agreed. I've apparently done the raid 35 times (between normal & hard), and well... 9 praedyths revenges and 5 mythoclasts is just a bit much. Only god knows how many more chatter whites, timebreakers, & Glass Minuets I've received.
-
My first three prices of raid gear were the chest, arms, then legs. Call me lucky. P.S : all from normal
-
The best way to do is on hard more and only hard. I don't think I ever got chatterwhite from doing it on hard unless I completed it on normal first. The drops are a lot better, but sometimes you will get the shards and energy.
-
Just give out gear or weapons, if they double I can make ascendant material out of them myself. Two hunters, 17 vogs, and no boots. 2 of those were hard mode. Thank you Bungie for a great game that I am losing the desire to play. A fair amount of time for no rewards sucks the fun right out of it.
-
Today I got red death and vision of confluence after atheon ^.^
-
By loot table do you mean ascendent materials? Lol Bungie please fix this. There are enough different chests in the raid that give us materials already, please don't have Atheon/Templar give them to us too.
-
I did the raid 5 times this week (3 reg, 2 hard mode). NOTHING but shards and energy. Not even a single duplicate weapon.
