Nope. Although there is a theory that it has something to do with Nightfall. We'll find out soon enough.

I was hoping that the ship would tie into something later.

Who's to say it won't? Let's not forget they are laying ground work for a Halo 5 cheaper in Agent Locke. So they could very well be laying the ground work for a new threat as well.
