What games that came out recently, or relatively recently actually SUCCEEDED in living up to the hype that was built up before release?
Edit: Holy bumparooni

Definitely not destiny.. But dark souls sure did. I still play almost daily.

Hoping for witcher 3
-
Borderlands 2
-
Uncharted. Blew my mind.
-
dark souls 1 & 2

No game has. Because when you over-hype the shit out of a game you'll always be disappointed. We need the stop this "hype-culture" bullshit, and stop pre-ordering games.

The literal LAST game I played that I thought "my goodness old sport the hype for this game was so worth this game is a mastapiece" was probably borderlands 1. Good RNG, good gameplay, story was pretty good too, ending kinda stank though with the cliff hanger, but it was still a great game, and all the DLC for it was well worth the money with all the content.

Dying Light is doing a good job so far
-
Density

-
LAST OF US now that lived up to it
-
System Shock 2
-
Borderlands 2 is a great example of a game living up to the hype created from the first one.
-
Alien isolation
-
The last of us that's the best game of all time IMO.

Edited by Lolipops: 1/28/2015 9:39:25 PMI don't think I've ever came across a game that lives up to the hype surrounding it. From my own personal experience, the best games are the ones that aren't hyped to death.

Destiny *wait games that lived up to their hype and not completely let us down*? Any other game

Dragon Age

For me. Mass effect and gears of war. Seems like the new thing nowadays is overhyping a game and not even trying to deliver.
-
Tomb Radier Mass Effect Assassins Creed 2 Child of Light
-
The Last of Us!!!
-
Limbo lived up to the hype for me. So did Alien Isolation. Oh, and who can forget STFU!
-
How bout Last of US? I didnt play it last gen...so the hype was mostly from the remaster. I bought it and it blew me away.
-
Mass effect 2......three had a shitty ending but let's be honest the rest of the game was amazing

Diablo 3 hasn't let me down yet, and 2.1 is on console now, so there's TONS to do
