This is just MY opinion, and I am in no way saying you are wrong, however i strongly disagree with you.
A player who spends a lot of time in strikes and raids and gets lucky with drops does not work any harder then someone who has to play with the intention of gathering a currency to have a CHANCE to purchase a beneficial piece of gear.
I dont feel like there is any difference between buying from xur or finding gear, at least beyond how it was obtained. You worked for it either way, and you either got lucky it dropped, or got lucky xur didnt troll you and sell something you either have or dont want/need.
Bottom line for me is i feel that the implementation of xur is a great design to the game. They are catering to they die hard E-Peen players by giving you gear that cant be obtained elsewhere in raids, and giving us casuals the ability to get gear that can COMPETE with it by other means.
Creates a form of equality among play styles.
