One afternoon after completing the weekly raid, daily mission and attempting the VoG strike on hard, with my kamikaze crew I stumbled upon a glitch when making a second character, and since i know you will ask it was a titan, i found you could unlock the second sub class! Woop woop hurrah i found out how to get the defender class as a lvl 1 titan yay! I don't think it is that ground breaking but this is how you do it, i think it is second play through and all after that only. So, after the cut scene with does cooky astronauts you get to the scene where your ghost is searching for you, you can press your inventory button (select or whatever you ps users use) and switch your subclass, and as soon as you start controlling your avatar and upgrade one of your skills you see that you have the abilities of that subclass.
