Have you ever played World of Warcraft? If so, when did you join, how long did you play, and why did you leave (if you left)? What class/race/faction did you play? Feel free to share any details.
I joined during early TBC. Started originally with Alliance with a generic human warrior. Ended up making a Night Elf Hunter, but only made it to level 14 or so before I quit (i did not like Darkshore). After meddling with a Tauren Druid, I eventually made a Blood Elf Hunter. This character is still my main, years later. Also have a wide variety of other classes, with 7 characters at or above 85, one at 80, and the rest around level 60-70. Some of those include Alliance characters, too.
I raided during TBC, and got to early Black Temple (up to Teron) before our guild fell apart, as our officers left to join the top guild on the Server so they could kill KJ/Illidan before WoTLK. Cleared Naxx and ToC in Wrath, but other then that I did not do much raiding. Cata I only did a few bosses (save LFR), and now in MoP I raid through LFR almost entirely.
I haven't kept my subscription going constantly, I've taken breaks every now and then. The only reason I keep going back is because I enjoy the lore. The Warcraft universe is awesome.

I've played WoW since Vanilla and cleared all content up through WotLK. Never bought Cataclysm, though. 6 years was enough for me. I completely agree with the lore aspect. It's the best part of that game. It gives the grind a greater purpose and more meaning and explains the"why are we doing this question ". Which Destiny leaves completely out. Judging from the replies to this post, it's easier to understand the players who think Destiny is awesome. They've never seen content like WoW. Coming from a game like CoD, Destiny is awesome, but coming from WoW, it's disappointing. Especially since Bungie made statements like " we want Destiny to be the next Star Wars or LotR". You can't do that without a huge story.
