An area map.
As I wander the beautiful worlds the Dev team has created, every so often i still get lost. I mean, I know the lay of the land pretty well, but sometimes I find a new path to somewhere, and when I emerge from whatever Hive-infested hole I just got done clearing out, I find myself wondering "exactly where did I emerge?".
My solution (and I've seen it suggested somewhere before), is for an in-game area map.
The commands when you bring up the Ghost Menu screen in the game are as follows:
Hold X: Summon sparrow
Hold Y: Go to Orbit/Abandon Objective/Leave Fireteam
And that's it. there's so much potential for this screen to help players out.
My ideas:
Tap A: Bring up Area Map. This would show basically the same map you see from orbit, but would have a small indicator as to a Guardian's current position on the planet he/she is currently exploring/patrolling.
Hold A: Reputation Screen/Advisors. Like you can view your reputation with the various Factions and see the progress on bounties, this screen would bring all of those into neatly organized lists to be able to track your Guardian's objectives on the fly while planet-side.
And there's tons of other potential for additional items as well.
There's the LB/RB buttons that currently have no use while in the Ghost map.
There's the diagonal buttons on the D-pad that could be used as Weapon/Armor/Consumable hot-keys.
And whether you Tap the button or Hold the button could lead to even more options to utilize various button functions and aids to players in the game.
My logic is this: Our Ghost's are supposed to be (by the story and lore implemented in the game), our constant companions and advisers. It wouldn't be any kind of stretch to have the Ghost's assisting us in these additional roles as well as their normal door-hacking functions (lol). It is (in a way) already their job, and this would help increase the immersion value of your worlds.
But more than anything on this list, an area map would (I would think) be very well accepted by pretty much everybody.
Please pass this along to the Dev team, DeeJ.
