one of the things i thought was lacking in destiny is the amount of future weapons.
i mean the auto rifle is nice but it doesnt feel very sci fi.
so i came up with a weapon that for now i call the railgun (this is a temp name).
the railgun is a heavy weapon.
and shoots one straight laser beam.
it has on average around 20 bullets and can only have 1 in the the clip at a time some perks might increase this.
unlike a fusion rifle it has no charce before firing but has to reload after every shot.
the weapon would be fairly large a bit the size of a machine gun.
as a barrel it would have 2 plates either on top of eachother or sideways from eachother like in this picture (picure is on top of eachother):
http://halofanforlife.com/wp-content/uploads/Rail-Gun-concept-Sparth.jpg
the plates could be open like that permantly or be closed and open when you fire.
in other words if you look at the picture imange that both parts would be placed against eachother and open up when you fire.
between the the plates you would see a sort of electricty spark between the plates with a crackling noise that almost sounds like thunder when the gun is about the release the beam.
which is follewed by a beam if you would measure it in real life it would be around 50cm in diameter the beam size would differ per weapon.
the beam fires a stright line that sounds the same as when you fire a fusion rifle but louder and heavyer in sound.
and would then disolve from the point you fired it and where it hit wall/ground into particles with a crackling noise.
the reload would be one of the following ways.
1. the back end of the rifle would split open in half and you would place a sort of long cilinder in between and the weapon would close up.
once you fired it the weapon goes open again either ejects the coil or the player removes it and places a new one.
2. just like a clip on a auto rifle you place the coil before the trigger on the backend of the gun and give it a turn so it locks in.
then you turn it back once fired trow it away and put in a new one.
3. this reload is sort of like a battery on top of the back end you would have a gap in which you can place the cilinder ammo.
the ammo is a long cilinder which is transparent in the middle where a glowing liqeud resides.
in case of reload 2 and 3 once you fire the weapon you would see the liqeud dissapear and incase of an extra shot perk you would see it go half empty.
and in al 3 the cases once the shot is fired you will get a empty cilinder with the glowing liqeud gone.
so the ammo would kind of look like helium flaments.
the beam as i mentioned is pretty large but can still be easly dodged is what you might be thinking.
wrong around the beam would be a sort of magnetic field.
to explain this a bit lets take a look at a shader icon.
imagine the center is the beam and the ring around is the megnatic field.
in other words if the beam shoots just beside an enemy the enemey would still receive some damage from the field around the beam.
the size of the field just like the beam is different per rifle..
also the beam only stops when it hits wall or ground so you better not stand in a straight line.
this short video of the gundam wing movie the beam that machine fires with its gun is the kind of beam this railgun would fire:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8R5G2zUZsQ
this video also gave me a new perk idea which could be called overcharce it widens the beam and causses more damage but you also receive some damage from the beam.
the next perk of the rifle is optional and would not be availble in pvp.
the idea of this perk comes from one of my favorite guns in all games.
the FCA-26 Rail Driver from red facion 1.
to explain people what it does just like the railgun it fires a beam.
you might be thinking what is special about well it shoots through walls.
the scope would have heat vision that allows you to see and find heat signetures of enemys behind walls
and then shoot them through the wall.
the more obstacles the harder it is to see the enemy with your scope not only that but it also reduces in damage for every obstacle it has to go through and can only go though so many obstacles so the beam doesnt go on and on and on.
exotics special properties.
i have no names for these exotics but i do have there perks.
exotic 1: the 1st exotics is sort of simelair to the truth in other words the beam curves if that is needed to hit its target.
exotic 2: the second has a very thin beam but when it hits something it causes a major explosion.
exotic 3: having to reload and keep pressing that firing button can be very anoying but not with this exotic it would have no spare ammo al the ammo is in the clip and ready to fire it would for example have like 300 bullets and as you hold the fire button it would fire a continues beam that makes those bullets dwindle like milliseconds. and would stop as soon as you let go of the trigger or when your out of ammo.
exotic 4: exotics 4 is an optional one which would be implemented if the shoot through wall perk is lost in other words the perk that would be something spread over a dozen railguns is then instead exclusive to this exotic.
so it has a heat vision scope with which you find your enemys behind walls and other obstacles and take them down.
and just like the overall perk the more obstacles the harder it is to see the enemy with your scope not only that but it also reduces in damage for every obstacle it has to go through and can only go though so many obstacles so the beam doesnt go on and on and on.
this is what i currently got for the railgun.
other weapons i thought of where a bit more plain.
like a grenade launcher or minigun.
for the minigun the machine gun would have to become a special weapon since they are sort of simelair in what they do.
another i thought of is a weapon we can call the nukegun or cruisemissle gun for now.
it would have only 2 bullets max and would aslo be a heavy.
it would basically fire a large rocket in a simelair fashion as a cruise mislle so allot of smoke and fire then it would come out of the barrel in still slow manner for a rocket some part would detache and wings would unfold and then fly off with the speed of light creating either a massive explosion or better yet an implosion sucking the enemies towards it and then suddenly blast outwards.
well this is it for now if you have a weapon idea by all means post it in the comments.
if you want to leave your thoughts on the railgun please do but keep it to constructive criticism.

Edited by Of The Fearless: 12/7/2014 1:51:19 PMYou mean like the plasma rail gun in Titan fall? And to the guy who had the halo comment and about being sued, they didn't trademark the gun just like Titan fall and every other game didn't. But good idea, always open to new guns in this game

It'd be nice to see more gun variety in destiny, support.
-
It's good but that's already a weapon in a Halo 4, which Bungie does not own and would get sued.

i guess this post has faded away into oblivion.
