[b][i]As I look down upon the city, I cannot help but feel a chill
The world is torn asunder, but the city slumbers still
Do they not know of the peril upon us? Do they really fear no ill?
It is in Guardians that they place their trust, their faith and hope tranquil
I fear that we will fail them, our days are filled with pain
Another guardian fell today, on Venus, in the rain
His heart was true and full of light, he sang a song of flame
The city will not mourn him, for they did not know his name
As I look down upon the city, the fog fills me with dread
The enemy knocks upon the door, and countless now lay dead
And now that battle is over, here lies Xyor, the Unwed
The chef has a new cake recipe, its soufflé à la Dreg
Our numbers are diminishing, how will we ever survive?
We scout and patrol the planets, it keeps our senses alive
I happened upon a dead guardian, but before I could revive
My ghost exclaimed with urgency, "We've woken the Hive!"
As I look down upon the city, and I recall the things I've seen
I could tell you of the Vandals, and how they serve the Queen
We fought and killed a gate lord, we took his head off clean
I tossed it to her brother, the bastard was still mean
The Vex control a Warmind, our light began to fade
We generated orbs of light, and carried out a raid
The Oracles tried to curse us, we escaped the Gorgon's gaze
We cleansed ourselves of the darkness, Time's Vengeance has been paid
As I look down upon the city, I bite thoughtfully on my lip
But the city slumbers still, now free from the darkness' grip
I summon for my sparrow, I summon for my ship
I stand as a Thorny Guardian, with the Thorn upon my hip
