Flawed System

Hopefully this will be read by someone within Bungie who has the want to make Destiny a better game and has the power to do so. Firstly let me start by saying that i think Destiny is a great game. It is not perfect (i am yet to find one that is) but it has the makings of an interesting universe for an ongoing gaming franchise. The story that we do have is interesting, but obviously lacking (and i am hungry for more). The gameplay is solid, but can be sparse. In short, there is a lot of further potential in the game. But for all of that, the game is flawed. In order to be different from other games you have created a system where to progress you must acquire armor with a light rating and upgrade this to as high as possible. By doing so you increase in levels and therefore gain access to the more difficult activities in the game. Namely, Vault of Glass and Nightfall. By gaining access to these activities you also get a better weapons. Which in turn make it easy to complete the harder activities. In order to get to level 30, you have to complete Vault of Glass to get the raid gear, which apart from Exotic, is the only gear that can go to light 30. The flaw with this system is that to get this gear is completely random. Which for a seasoned gamer is to nothing unusual. But this further hampered by the fact that you can only obtain the gear from Vault of Glass can only obtained once a week. To me, this seems like a casual mobile gaming addition added to the game to elongate the time that people play the game. The next issue is that in completing the raid it is possible to get ascendant shards and energy or shaders. Therefore it is possible to complete Vault of Glass and the only receive ascendant materials. Meaning that you have to wait another week to obtain the chance to have another run at the vault to get the raid gear. What this means is that due to the randomness of the loot drops, the amount of loot that is available to drop and the limit of loot dropping once per week, it is possible to play the vault of glass forever and never get to level 30. Let me repeat that, forever. While statistically it is unlikely that that would happen, but it could. Now i am not saying that the gear from Vault of Glass or Nightfall should be locked. The randomness is good. But stop giving ascendant materials for one thing. Dismantling legendary items gives you this. Have a tier system so that only high level gear is dropped on high level activities. Have the loot to be level appropriate. Completing Vault of Glass and getting uncommon gloves is pointless. Increase the drop rates. People will keep playing cause they will always want a better piece. And knowing that the next dreg you kill could give you that exotic handgun that you want is what will keep people playing, not locking gear from Vault of Glass to once a week. And on that point, remove that. It is ridiculous that people can't get gear every time they play. Vault of Glass takes time to organise and get a group together to run and then time to finish. If people want to run that 20 times in a day, let them. They are doing what the game was designed for. To be played. Hopefully this will be read, and someone listens.
