I never could put my finger on what was missing from this game until I read this. The part I agree with most is the character relationships. Take the "stranger" for example. You only see her twice in the game and never even learn her name or who she was talking to on the radio. Same goes for the story too. The speaker even says that he "could" tell you the story of the traveler or the fist war with the darkness, but doesn't anyway.Along with the concept of the traveler's light, is it magic or technology? Not to mention that it's the reason you're alive in the first place.
That leads me to something else, who are you? You know nothing about your character accept what the look like. Even in the beginning, Ghost says that "you've been dead a long time". How?Old age? Fallen? A gang fight?
Then there's the story board. It was way to short and simply left even more unexplained then it started with. Like the Hive, what are they? They look like a bug or parasite, but we'll never know, simply because the story forgets about them as soon as you leave the moon.
Then what about how you complete the game, I understand that destroying the Black garden not only stopped the Vex in their tracks, but also allowed the traveler to begin healing, but what about the rest of the darkness?
In summary, it was a great game with great playing, but story wise, literally everything led to another loose end to add to the pile. And if you ,Bungie, could directly address those problems, along with the "Solitude" issue, the game would be near flawless.
Anyway, thank you for you time.
