No, they get civil unions or (lip-service)convert .Right. Give em benefits and all but all Justice of the Peace"weddings" get called civil unions for all people.

Marraige=Religion Civil Union=Secular. Simple and applies to all, not a specific group.

Why not just let everyone get married? If we adopt your model, what happens if someone converts religions, or stops being religious? Does their marriage status change?
