Bungie Weekly Update - 11/07/2014 - Why No Trading DEEJ ??
So Bungie makes the entire game RNG based and eliminates any chance of skill based advantages.
Some MMOs (even though Destiny is not an MMO) have RNG based loot systems.
RNG supposedly is fair and prolongs the life of the game.
I get that. I really do.
But what I cannot understand, what I fail to see any logical sense, is why there are ZERO counterbalances to the RNG system.
Literally EVERY game that has RNG based loot has a balancing factor.
WOW has raid coins for example to help people earn the raid gear they deserve.
FF, D3, and even Warframe have player trading and markets.
SO WHY DOES DESTINY NOT HAVE TRADING?
The fact that DeeJ let slip in a previous Weekly Update that trading was originally in Destiny but was nerfed before release, and they are considering re-adding it, only serves to prove that this is a GLARINGLY OBVIOUS MISTAKE on Bungie's part to remove it and not prioritize re-adding it.
RNG - if done right - is fine. However it was never done right with Destiny. Engrams used to be decoded on the spot, no cryptarch involved, and bosses dropped guaranteed legendaries and exotics - back in the 2013 E3 build.
They decided to nerf it.
And what happened?
The community resorted to farming the infamous Loot Cave due to RNG being so bad, and bashed on Bungie to the point where they patched engrams, to AT LEAST give the correct tier item based on the color of the engram. This was still a half-assed fix, and with the nerf of loot caves, they promised RNG and loot would be fixed. This is also when trading was mentioned.
Fast forward to this weeks update.
Another promise to fix RNG (of the cryptarch) and Bungie acknowledges that he is broken (he is still a "bastard").
This isnt the first time they admitted RNG is broken. ("Lets face it, all those purple engrams were blue anyway")
So why still not add trading?
At this point Im very burnt out with the game, as are most veteran players. As the leader of one of the top PS4 raid clans, I can say better than anyone that without trading this game is dead. Even the most patient and persistent players reach a breaking point. [after 30ish hard raids completed and still dont have the right gear to hit 30 on 66% of my characters, as well as seeing millions of greens and blues (more to discard) and purples that turn into hundreds of useless shards/energy or terrible gear.] I have hundreds of friends that need a specific piece that I have duplicates of, I dont see why I cant trade it to them, since I can already trade BETWEEN MY 3 CLASSES.
I really hope this makes it to Bungie, and at the very least they ask the community to vote on whether trading should be added- but I wont hold my breath. Also raid tokens would be awesome. Thanks.

Vog=vault of glitches. Trading for equal tiered items only would be a great addition.
-
I get your frustrations but the RNG works and Xur helps people earn some extras with strange coins. The iron banner now allows you to reach level 30 with some work you may find easier. VoG is great but there are a few glitches still. I like the fact they keep making it harder (and other bosses too) as it should be hard to do them! Also a note on exotics...why no exotic greaves?!
-
Bungie doesn't want to counterbalance the RNG. RNG makes people play the game more, which allows bungie to say "wow, look how long people play our game, it must be amazing, buy it" It also allows them to have less content, because it takes five-ever to get all of the stuff.

Edited by Gary : 11/18/2014 10:27:36 PMthere is no reason at all the tower cannot add enough trading options to sought these issues out. players could simply swap one big pile of crap for smaller piles of other things. ie 10 of a buys 1 of b and 10 of b buys one of a... and you could be limited to the volume you can sell each week, to stop farming. so if you need shards, buy them with metal, or other shards or part or scrolls of crapola...

Well I'm a hardcore lvl 30 that's completely against trading. #rngrocks
-
Lol 10 self res for 8 raid attempts. Let me know if you ever want some training on how to be a raid boss With love G3t X trained ;)
-
Top raid team on ps4 is like the top wnba team #xboxone
-
Trading would fix all the RNG problems. "Someone's trash can be someone's else treasure.
-
If they don't add a trade system then I like the idea of the point system. Maybe make items 25 or 50 points and you get so many points per stage of the raid? I.E. 1 point for beginning, 2 for Templar, etc. Maybe it'll help from feeling jipped when you only get shards or energies from VoG.
-
We need trading of some sort Add raid marks if need be. But rng is ridiculous I have so many raid guns that are just duplicates now.
-
How about trading with only your clan members and they have to be in the clan for at least thirty days?
-
-
Buuuuump. They'd have to be pretty careful with it, though.
-
Trading anything higher than rare quality items would break the game. Xur is the RNG balance
-
Very well written indeed. I agree. Like seriously look at my play time and my strike count between my titans (over 600). The only exotics I got not through weekly reset of nightfalls and xur are the plan c (about strike 300) and the patience of time the weekend xur sold that gun (just before strike 600). If the rng wasn't so broken then they wouldn't need xur or nightfalls or any other weekly handout. Look at my play time (CRAZY) and the only exotics i have gotten any day that wasn't Tuesday or Friday are the plan c and the patience and time (xur sold me the day prior). That is beyond extreme.

Trading between players in MMOs leads to massive problems with real money traders. If Destiny was to have trading it would have to be severely restricted to put off RMT. I'd like to see a raid marks system, similar to delve plasm in FFXI or the coins you mentioned in WoW.
-
I don't think trading is a bad idea at all but what I think would backfire is noobs not doing the raid and there friends giving them the extra gear. If you're going to implement a trading system you would have to put a lock on the raid gear until that person completed the raid. If you gave them a gun or helmet only unlocked in the hard raid they would have to complete that and so on and so forth.
-
Oh no. Not reclaitard again :(
-
This thread is pretty stupid, and it is obvious from the countless "bumps" that not many people share your... enthusiasm for this idea.
-
If there is no economy there is no need to balance it. Look at the uproar weapon nerfs have caused, imagine the butthurt after an economy nerf.
-
Edited by SLAYER2291: 11/10/2014 1:55:20 PMIm sorry but your full of shit. You have 29 total raids completed thats both normal and hard combined for all three characters. Thats nothing near 40. Therefore you sir should just shut up and sit down with your bullcrap.
-
Lmao, i also like to have randon words in bold so that i look like a whining idiot Trading is a stupid idea cause theyd have to lock out exotics and raid and then theres be no point in adding it. Itd be no fair if i earned my loot and you whined to get it handed to you
-
>claims trading should be implemented >also claims it isn hard to obtain anything in game and raid gear should be locked. Sooooo what's the point of devs putting time and effort into this rather than the multitude of issues they're already working on?

Bumps

Good Point, bump.

why not? bump
