So there is a pic on the Destiny Facebook page that gave me an idea. The pic had a Titan with some crazy green glowy hive gun, the hunter behind with hand cannon and a warlock in the foreground with only a ghost. I saw this and thought why couldn't it be like this?
What I mean is why aren't the classes more different based on their archetype. I know things are basically set in stone as far as an over arching system but I saw the image and thought of a world where instead of guns, Warlocks actually get powers that function as magic. Maybe in place of the special weapon slot they would use their ghost, channelling the light of the traveller. Upgrading or some other way improving it along the way to generate or channel more power or in different ways. Maybe even have healing abilities.
The Titan could be the soul user of heavy weapons. Bulked up bullet sponge tanks that deal out as much as take retaining access to close quarters weapons and beefed up damage pumping Light into grenades and weapons to increase fire rate or reload times/clip sizes.
And finally hunters as the knife in the dark assassins they should be either specializing in ranged attacks or close up kills. Perhaps eschewing use of close up weapons to get increased accuracy or greater damage output at range. Able to put the power of the traveller into their shots or stabs to provide a variety of affects like splash damage, damage over time, and other status affects.
All of this flashed through my head at this picture or some reason. I know it is impossible for this level of change to happen now. And I am sure it would make PVP balancing a nightmare I just figured I would share this concept in hopes that maybe some of it could rub off when/if the devs try to add some flair or flavor to better differentiate the classes.
