Collecting 80 helium filaments to max out one piece of armor is tedious and boring. Having to do the equivalent of that for every piece of 30 light armor is down right mind numbing.
Farming planetary materials in Destiny is right there with mineral scanning in Mass Effect 2 as one of the most boring mini-games ever devised and put into a triple A title.
Solutions?
Let players buy planetary materials with marks with an exchange rate of something like 5 material per 1 mark.
Increase the quantity of material given per node. Right now 1 or 2 material per node makes farming feel like it takes longer than it actually does.
Let patrol missions reward planetary materials. Because why not?
When it came to the loot cave Bungie said "shooting at a black hole for hours on end isn't our dream for how Destiny is played."
Well I have to ask, is running around in circles picking flowers for hours on end your dream? Because right now that is how Destiny is played and picking flowers for countless hours is boring.

Bump for materials from patrol missions. Been thinking the same thing for a while.
