yeah I don't understand why they didn't do this for every strike boss (and don't give me the last gen/new gen crap). they did it with the huge spider thing on earth, why not all of them. the public events really suck. putting the strike bosses in would actually be a bit of a challenge, but who wants that right? next Tuesday will show how many people really like this game. cod has taken my raid buddies, I'm holding out for halo.

Seriously, think about it. If you had a boss like phogoth, or even more massive event, how would the last gen consoles handle it? If you had an event like this you'd need a big boss, worthy of many fireteams fighting (upwards of 20). So you have 40-60 players fighting a huge boss in a hugely graphically demanding environment. Now what boss would be complete without a horde of minions to back him up. Now you have upwards of 5-10 enemies for each player. Not so bad, right? That's only... Let's take a review here. 40-60 players throwing around grenades, activating Supers, and shooting at enemies. 200-600+ thrall sprinting around, Knights firing their blasters, Ogres firing their nova beams at you, wizards costing the field in poison gas/energy blasts, and acolytes firing at you. One or more huge made to order boss for everyone to chise down Environments already pushing the limits of last gen consoles. Sounds cool doesn't it? I think so too. But how do you expect old gen consoles to handle this? This would likely even be pushing the limits of next gen consoles. I can only see this easily happening on pc, where one may adjust their graphic level to suit their pc.

it's done on earth with the spider tank that drops, why do you need 60 people fighting it..the server lobby doesn't hold that many players to begin with. make the public events the strike bosses like they did on earth...it's already been done

Edited by Killer4life7670: 11/6/2014 2:10:49 PMI was taking into consideration what other players were posting as well. Smaller scale, you'd still need a scaling amount of enemies per individual. You have 12 people on a patrol server at once, okay? Each of those 12 people, plus the boss, and 5-15 enemies for each player need to be rendered at once, or else events like this would cause huge fps drops or freezes. That's also probably why the fireteam limit is capped at 6 and only for a specific set of content, in order to keep the game from going lower than the 30 fps threshold. The spider tank is at a much smaller scale than strike bosses and the like, and doesn't even move from Its predefined, maybe 20 feet circle it comes in at.
