Makes me sick to see people kicking hunters out of VoG groups because they are "useless". I am going to prove them wrong. Here is how they are amazing in VoG
1. Destroying oracles fast: Got three oracles you need to destroy in less then 5 seconds or else your team die? Not a problem for a gunslinger. They can one shot those oracles
2. Great relic holders: Hunters are best fitted for the relic. They are very fast and quick. The whole team spread out and you need to cleanse them? Not a problem for the Hunter. They are also really good for in the teleporter for Atheon.
3. Clearing out enemies: Got a bunch of supplicants swarming your team on atheon? Get gunslinger and Time Vengeances and you can take out all those supplicants out. Need to help out clear enemies with the shield guy in the teleporter? Not a problem.
Now you know how they are amazing in VoG. What are they are not good out?
1. Cheesing
I laugh at the people who say hunters are useless in VoG. They are the people who want to do it the easy way by cheesing the bosses. I just want to say you guys that think so are pathetic and just so sad.
Well that is it. What you guys think? For those Hunters that do VoG, you guys are the real MVP.
Edit: Thanks for all of the responses and glad to see that many people feel the same way. It is not the class that makes the group succeed, it is the person that is holding the controller. This whole Hunter Discrimination needs to stop.
Edit: I am not a Hunter, yet

God bless, I'm a 29 Hunter, been grinding my butt off for my boots but RNGesus hasn't blessed me.. Gotta wait until Tuesday. /:

I main a hunter and I can say in my team 2 warlocks a titan and 3 hunters (including myself) it is usually me that holds the relic or guide the team through the whole VoG. Don't get me wrong, that my team does carry me from time to time when I am just having a bad day doing the raid. In my own opinion Self res on sunslinger is amazing, but if your warlock happens to be a bad warlock and dies pretty easily then self res becomes pointless if he happens to die during it or a couple seconds right after radiance is over. During Atheon, gunslinger has its ups and downs. Easy oracle and add kills. But what I have seen is horrible damage while using golden gun. But fret not during times vengeance trip mine grenades (if you can land it or have atheon step on it) does aroun 1-2k damage sticking him and another 6k+ damage on explosion (from what I've seen). Bladedancer I would have to say is not much of a help seeing how arc blade has to put you in close combat. Titans do have their ups and downs too with their shield, but once you start getting overrun by supplicants and they come into the shield then its pretty much game over if you don't manage to escape lol.

In my opinion, the hunters are the least effective class in the VOG. They are good.... but by far the weakest of the 3 classes. I prefer it when a warlock sunsinger is holding the Relic, because if he is killed he can self revive and pick it straight back up again. This is handy in all PVE situations, especially nightfall's or VOG on hard. The Warlock voidwalker can also wipe out huge amounts of enemies in the VOG due to doing void damage and having an extremely large AOE super. The solar grenade when using thesunbreakers is amazing for closing off choke points. The void grenade for the voidwalker is great as well for this, it does not last as long, but the extra damage to praetorian shields is a huge advantage. Titan Defenders are arguable the most effective class in the VOG, they do void damage so you take down shields in the VOG fast. They can also defend the entire team & safely revive team mates under fire. Strikers also have the ability to wipe out huge groups of enemies. The hunters golden gun is good...... however anyone with a raid weapon, such as atheons epilogue, vison of confluence, fatebringer, praedyths revenge, praetorians foil etc.... will be able to take out an oracle just as fast as a hunter. Also they are the only class that does not have any sort of support perk with either of their classes. Warlocks can reduce the cool downs of those around them, and titans can shield them. Hunters can't really do anything to support. Also hunters are currently the only class without a void based subclass, so they have to rely on void weapons in the VOG. Not much of an issue, however it does weaken their standing in the VOD. I know plenty of hunters who are great at this game, however their titan defenders and warlocks are far more effective in most PVE scenarios.

Edited by Zz I Ghost: 11/7/2014 6:38:09 PMHonestly in the hard raid their specials are useless and I think warlocks are the best over all because they can self revive and I'm a Titan which is ok in the raid sometimes our shield helps in the raid and fyi im only talking about the hard raid not normal everyone equal in the normal raid
-
I love hunters and agree they are useful but not for relic holding. In my opinion they are to "weak" to hold the relic. I feel a lot more comfortable when im holding the relic as a lock or a titan. But i do love hunters for the raid.
-
You never mentioned Bladedancer, which is the only subclass I feel isn't very useful in the VoG
-
The Mighty Mc Nugget disapprove's of your opinion bow down before he give's you 10,000 lashes with hot Mc Devil fries
-
I am still amused that people continue to talk about this. It's more about the person holding the controller than the character class they choose.
-
It's funny listening to people talk down to warlocks because we can self-revive. You pretend you don't die in the raid causing us to have to wipe. I'm using this ability to help our damn team wipe less often.
-
I held the relic for the Templar fight and we did it two tries (I am a hunter) also we did it twice because no one was calling out the oracles quick enough.
-
I agree, yay to hunters. Dont get me wrong i think all types of player are valuable though. TITAN 1) The flash grenade from titan makes praetorian killing smooth and easy, even better with the exotic chest(2 grenades) 2) The exotic helm on defender class adds a blind effect to the titan bubble, that is also incredibly useful for gate keeper, walking into a portal killing the boss and ignoring the adds/ or blocking supplicants from coming to the portal. 3) Weapons of light on defender class bubble when in vengence mode means you are doing 40% more damage, you can kill aetheon in less time/teleports with this technique. so it makes the boss fight easier as there is less chance to mess up, one less teleport could be the difference between success and failure. Warlock 1). self revive obviously, whether holding relic, or just in general, that second chance is a boon 2). sticky grenades, (not like the ones hunters or titans use on the stick) these do huge damage because they arent directed in one direction, strip a Minotaur/praetorian and lob one = easy mode 3) can glide up to the starting ledge from the 1st boss area, and revive someone without having to wipe the raid to get some one in. 4) has offensive void damage abilities, good vs shielded although no one goes without the self revive i tend to notice. hunter 1) golden gun orcals 2) golden gun snipers in time stream 3) turn invisible and hide in a portal to kill the gate keepers at the same time. 4) push stationary gorgons away from the route whilst invisible. (hard mode only) 5). use golden gun properly when protecting the confluxes at first boss can keep the team in constant super energy from the orbs = easy mode

Did a run with 5 hunters and a titan. Titan only one who could push templar off. You the real mvp mr. Titan
-
i have a level 29 hunter i play VOG all the time i never been kicked before.... if you have been kicked it was because you suck or because you suck..... lol
-
I agree with you're post but shut up Meg is terrible
-
Those are very situational circumstances though. Honestly a well organized strategy can go around the need to use golden gun as a last resort. I personally think hunters have minimal support qualities in the raid. I wouldn't boot one out of my fireteam though.
-
They are bad at tanking a light breeze of wind. They drop like a sac of potatoes. But really thats not a big deal because you expect it from them.
-
I agree with this yes it does take two gunslinger shots in hard mode but that's still two oracles I can take out while the other person helps kill enemies for the relic holder especially on venues (right side) and a lot of people die by supplements and I use my gun slinger to take them out before I put damage on atheon. I also have the helmet that gives me for shots
-
Also hunters are: 1. Squishy 2. Only useful for taking out adds fast, something every class can do. 3. Does not have any support abilities 4. Did i mention squishy. Also in the raid, does it really matter if you have the relic and can move fast, no. Its important you dont die
-
Did you get kicked because ur a hunter or something? You seem mad. On topic, we never kick hunter in my group. But we also don't have hunters hold the relic, warlocks hold the relic so they can Rez if they die. But we don't boot hunters simply for being hunters.
-
they can even help cheese certain bosses. to initiate the oracles at the templar a bladedancer can jump down, jump on some pillars and bladedance to the spawn platform your entire team can snipe the first gatekeeper from behind the door and you can have a bladedancer stealth to go activate the portal. once the portal is up all adds despawn saving you time, ammo, and accidental deaths grabbing the first relic on gatekeepers is easy because they can do whatever damage they need to, then stealth past the minions to grab the shield and stealth again to leave. saves accidental deaths ive had good experience using blink while holding the relic as well. its easier to aim becuase your in 3rd person and just gives you that extra mobility
there is simply no excuse to deny hunters
-
In the normal raid your correct. But in hard the GG takes 2 shots to kill an orical (if level 29) and BD cant revive anyone with stealth. Titan bubble and ss lock are better options.

Amen buddy

Hunter master race
-
Although they are not useless they just have to be used right u need them on blade dancer to take out adds and on revive duty because they can go invisible
