There's all these threads complaining about Destiny 2 (or the next major installment or whatever) is in progress, that it's too early, that they haven't even finished this game, Yada Yada and so on, but I'm personally glad that it is.
Yes this game seems far from finished, the individual missions on this could have been entire story arcs in a properly presented game. From the grimoire we know that Draksis, Kell of Winter, is supposedly one badass murderer and a brutal leader of the House of Winter that has killed many a Guardian, yet we take care of him in one mission with nothing more than a 2 minute debriefing. People want this fixed, but it's really too late as far as profit is concerned.
They could put a ton of work into a massive patch to add in cut scenes and extra missions to put in lost content and storytelling potential, but that won't make them money.
Taking what they did wrong, limited social interactivity and almost nonexistent storytelling, learning from it and implementing it into a far superior, better sequel, is what they can do. From the deal with Activision within 2 years they will need to provide another complete game, so I'd rather them take those 2 years and make a sequel that puts this one to shame, then make a couple of half-hearted patches and events with the illusion that it's adding in more content by renaming existing bounties.
Don't get me wrong, I'm already stuck with the expansion pass for the dlc (I got the ghost edition) so feel free to blow me out of the water with that. But from the content it seems will be in it, (3 story missions, a strike, and a raid) I don't see how much amazing storytelling they can shove into that especially since the story missions are usually separate from strikes as well as the raid, so they have three teensy missions (a resuming they're connected) to make me feel some of the content can be put into proper story format.
Tldr; this game will likely not get much better than it is now, but the sequel very well could be.
Feel free to disagree, argue, hate me, etc, you have your right to express your opinion.

If the entire game was nightfall draksis could have killed many guardians. But My ideas for what should have been. They should have had semi-random named bosses, with semi-random AI tweaks and armor. In other words. Procedural generated levels with truly unique variations. Simple objective unknown outcome in between. Like a mix between warframe and dungeon crawl. A static patrol area for resources with enemies on the outskirts protecting their facilities, a door that unlocks and reveals a set dungeon filled with more of the same enemies, enemies get stronger the deeper into the facility you go and by the end you meet a multi-level boss. That's a realistic raid. You actually attempting to enter their lair and the higher skilled enemies are closest to the leader.
