What makes me miserable is, how the Crucible doesn't really tie in with the whole theme of Destiny, Light vs Dark. Cause it seems really counter intuitive for Light to be fighting Light whilst fight the Darkness at the same time. And yes you can say it's for training, but the voices saying "Show no mercy!" and "The Crucible is no place for the weak, Guardian!"... doesn't seem to helpful. What they could have said is, all Guardians absorb the Darkness when they fight on the frontier and they have to cleanse themselves on the fiery battlegrounds of the Crucible. Just an example but that would make it much more entertaining to have a goal and not just hop in, kill stuff, hop out, like Call of Duty.
