So I have a story to tell it will be a bit long but stay with me.
My wife decided she wanted to play thru destiny but she wanted me to explain the different characters that she came/comes across.
So we began the game she asked what was the darkness? Sentient being, a plague, or a race of aliens?
Idk
After she finished the earth part of the game she asked why are the fallen on earth?
They're conquers.
No I mean why did they come, are they with the darkness? Are they the darkness?
Idk
Why did I have to unlock the resputin?
Idk
So then she beat the moon afterward she asked me if the hive can dig why would they think a door could hold them in?
Idk
So how do they correspond with the darkness?
Idk
Okay the summoning pit is stopping the traveler but why isn't there connection made with the hive and the darkness?
Idk
So I got the shard does the traveler wake up?
No
So why did I just do that?
Idk
Does anything I do in the game matter, will it change anything?
Not that I've seen.
Are the Vex the darkness?
No, maybe.
Why do they keep introducing new characters without even explaining who was the last new character?
Idk
Each descriptions that they do give us has nothing to do with the game.
Yeah I noticed that when I played.
After that she no longer wanted to play the game she said why waste her time playing this game when there's no real accomplishment afterwards. No ceremony no traveler wake up, nothing!
She realized in 4 hours what took me a month of playing. That this game seems so disfunctional in its construction along with no real reward system. Guns drop randomly so even if you get a gun you wanted it never will feel earned because you could get it in 20 mins or 20 hours. There's no dedicated way to earn things, just chance. There's no ending to the game no finally, even if the story would expand you could have some kind of accomplishment thus far but really it's a long winded tale with non developed characters who seem to have nothing to do with each other but by all rational should.

The open spaces must be filled with fantasy, may she have more fantasy under the sheets, or you fill her with fantasy...

Your wife's smart. Destiny's a waste of time.. Asinine to think otherwise.
-
TLDR Version for everyone; Activision. Seriously, even the expansions have been a mockery of the story mode. Here, have a nice polished cut scene where the queen dies. Have nothing to do with her brother or actual follow up, just kill a bunch of shit and have eris morn moan about things in the background not making any sense, it's like having an ex wife

I guess a few higher ups at bungie didn't like the story so they removed it and we got this idk Destiny game :( what a joke

What does Deej have to do the story of destiny? He just a community manager.. It's like yelling at a cashier about the price of a product

Destiny: The Biggest Scam In Gaming History
-
Agreed. I feel like I'm still in shock over how horrible this game turned out to be. Highest preorder sales in history, hahaha, what a joke. Should be listed as highest swindled sales in history. Lets see how many people they fool with destiny 2.
-
Deej or the bungie crew will never respond to this or any similar post about how this story has failed miserably. Wether by pride or on gag order. We will never get the answers we are looking for as fans. Bungie is drowning slowly in its empty promises and shameful excuse for a story. The fans are trying to throw her a lifeline but shes too damn stubborn to grab hold and give a simple no bullshit explanation. Why Beej!?!? Why won't bungie respond to the overwhelming questions about lack of story. Why has this game gone from so much hype to a game with good mechanics but a garbage story. Literally everything seems to have been scaled down. Even the weapons screens and unlocks went from stylish and ample to 3rd grade rubbish. I cant be the only one that sees this. Is it shame? Respond with two dots if its due to a gag order and activision has bungie by the balls.
-
Exactly. And the guy defending the story by saying "it hasn't been revealed yet" "it's the first episode" is missing the point. We bought a 60 dollar game with no story. And they want to sell us the story in segments afterwards. How is that ok? If the game was free to play and episodes of the story were $20 each that would be different. But it's not.

Year 2 and that pos chore is still boring, repetitive, and most importantly pointless.

It was actually the start of the first mission that woke me up I have 1 of each class, 1 of each race. You get the same opening no matter what. If the awoke were basically created AFTER the collapse, why was I being "resurrected" in a cheap, Honda rip-off, car in Russia? Hell, if it was the "Golden Age", why all the wheeled cars? If my Exo was "resurrected", why was there a skeleton? Blew the whole "epic" story right there.

Edited by Bungolickstaints: 10/18/2015 1:58:41 PMDestinys story is horrible. Full of holes, horrible dialogue, nothing ever explained... I could have written a better story. I wonder if they even tried sometimes... *edit* I'm not saying I could write a good story. Hell I could write complete garbage and it'd be right up there with Destiny.

Lol your wife is the best! I doubt deej would even care. They got paid big for TTK, he's prob laughing at the bank having drinks with cozmo and Luke smith. And the activision ceo moron. Jokes on us aye guys
-
Yup. Exactly. The game itself has a horrendous plot with zero character development. They did a terrible job of introducing the characters in the base game and by the time they actually start to TRY and give these NPCs a personality, its already the expansion. They wait until the bloody expansion to start cultivating some semblance of character for these people and yet you don't even know who they are, what they do or anything else relating to their backstory. Same goes for everything else as well. People who claim that they "know" these things do nothing but speculate. Unless they actually took the time to read the Grimoire. The Grimoire itself on Bungie.net is filled with all manner of information. The problem is that NONE OF THAT IS IN THE -blam!-ING GAME. And this whole thing that people go on about how TTK "improves" on this is really just a farce. Its the illusion of substance where there is none. The video above does a very good job of detailing the failure that is this expansion.

Edited by MaxSterling: 10/20/2015 1:37:33 PMDeeJ doesn't give a shit about Destiny. He's got his TTL Gunslingers company created on Halo 5.

I think you wife is a very smart person. She played the game found all weak points. By asking questions to you, she totally debunked the game and destroyed you. Because you are playing for a month and could not answer some questions. So you feel bad for this game you notice you lost your time. Now you are willing to leave it. By leaving it you are able to devote more time with her. Wife mission accomplished. You are owned. :D
congrats for having this wife.honestly. I appreciate smart women.
Lol if you don't understand the story at this point... it's your own fault

Edited by ThatWasntButter: 10/18/2015 4:56:51 AMThe Story is just the intro to your gaming-world. The game is based of lore and legends. You are just beginning yours. It's RPG and you are playing a roll of just waking up to everything around you. Of course you would not no much yet. The Grimoire is fun to read and it unlocks many secrets to the world around you. Adds meaning. It's a fun read.

Edited by viz762: 10/18/2015 5:18:15 AMBump. Anyone see the movie Philadelphia? Denzel washingtons character repeatedly asked "explain this to me like you would to a 3 year old child." Bungie can't and won't unless you fork over more money. Blam them, blam them in their blaming blamess.

Bump to the max. Very good arguement.

Kudos to your wife, dude. My gf kept playing casually between the times I was playing (which was not often, mind you, since, you know: grind) And she kept asking some of the same sorts of questions. But her refrain after my "IDK" was, "Okay, let's just see if by some miracle they can tie this mess of loose ends up enough in the end." Her son beat us to the Black Garden (he's only 9 yrs old, BTW, and a diehard) and she saw what was to come. She too said, "This is stupid! Is that it?!?!" IDK She said, "They didn't fulfill even one of the story 'promises' for this first volume. That's a deal-breaker! I'm done." And I have to agree. A real story, even if it is but one volume in a trilogy or series, makes a set of promises in the beginning to the reader or viewer (in this case, player). There are volume-level promises as well as series-long promises. And if not enough of those questions/threads are resolved at the end of a given volume, then that cheats the audience. And by golly if most of the series-long 'promises' are not resolved by the end of the series, it's a total failure. Moreover, if the first volume fails to make good on its immediate story-arc promises, the audience is justified in not bothering with the remainder of the series. Destiny, volume 1, as it currently stands, is a deal-breaker for the remainder of the series.
