Bungie... are you kidding?
Wait, before I start let me make a few things very clear:
- I am no game developer, I have exactly zero knowledge when it comes to making games, I just like playing them;
- Usually I don't like complaining, but I think this must be heard;
- I love Destiny.
Now, where was I? Oh yea, Bungie... are you kidding?
I know it can probably take up to 4 or 5 years of development before a product is finally finished, but already working on Destiny 2 when there's still so many bugs to fix, and features and content to add in 'Destiny 1' that has only been out for about 2 months? With all due respect Bungie, that's just insane, and a big middle finger to the Destiny community.
I don't like to be the kind of guy that tells awesome companies what to do, I'm just a fan of the product you know, I don't understand any of your business. But I think, if I may, it would be a better idea to polish 'Destiny 1' first. You know... add some more content to the existing planets (would like to see other locations that Old Russia, let's say a bit of North-America perhaps?), add some more planets in general, add some more armors, some more weapons, some more missions, some more strikes, some more raids, some more social options, some more spawn points in patrol mode, some more... Ahh well, who am I to talk right? I'm just that stupid gamer who only wants to have more and more without having to pend 'too much' money on a game.
Don't get me wrong Bungie, I love your work, I really do. I've gotten a shit ton of respect for every single employee that worked on the game, but this news just makes me angry and feel like I'm just some sack of money you're trying to take by pumping out games every 2 years or whatever. Keeping hopes up it's not gonna be a Call of Duty sellout.
Now, maybe I've started talking too soon. Maybe Bungie already started its development but needs at least 5 or 6 years to release it. Anyway, I would like to hear what the community has to say about this.
What do you guys think?
Kind regards
EDIT: So I guess the point of my post wasn't really clear. I WAS concerned about the fact that, with this announcement, Bungie would not be paying enough attention to the current game. Apparently the community's got nothing to worry about it, but like I stated: I don't have any knowledge regarding game development. I still love Destiny, and I still play everday. Problem solved.

The time frame of 4-5 years to create a game is mostly correct, this is the time scale for scatch building a game. Most of that time is modelling assets(weapons, enemies, buildings and the like). Bungie have the engine, they have most of the run of the mill assets, so development will be relatively swift. Think of Destiny 2 more like an expansion pack rather than a full game for development purposes. Yes Destiny has numerous issue, most of which can not be fixed now, content can continue to be added but it'll never be enough. Without the constraint of odd tech moving forward to next gen console only Destiny 2 can be a re-invisioning of the game, sadly those that have already turned away from Destiny are unlikely to pre-order or purchase Destiny 2. The damage is done and only something truely masterful will change Bungie's fall.
