They need to implement the worldwide alert for regular Public Events first I reckon. Then adapt and vary the events to become bigger and more varied.
Still, having a Phogoth or Sepiks Prime style enemy roam the world causing mayhem would be pretty ace now and again :-)

Edited by Farashto: 11/5/2014 1:22:26 AMYeah, many MMOs, spawn this kind of mobs once a day, and once a day only for all the community.
-
How does that work? I'd be pretty hacked off if I committed to a game only to find out community events only happened at 5am my time (GMT). I'm just curious that's all.
-
I mean, once a day, not at the same hour. But given the fact that Destiny only alows 6 players max on patrols Bosses should appear at random, i don't know. Yesterday i heard that public events on patrol happens at minute 15 and 45, example. 10:15 or 12:45 something like that.
-
To sum up, it's a good idea but will take a lot of work in order to include everyone. Oh, and your information about public events is wrong. Try googling the Destiny Public Events site, it's not 100% accurate but the more people use it, the more accurate it will become. It's also the Community Focus on the News page this week :-)

Thanks for the info, is good to know. I think if this ever come to life, it will be in a year or so.
-
Definetly. By then we ought to have more planets too. Making it even more epic 😀
-
And my hopes is that with more planets come a more developed MMO part, and not just 6 players
-
Not too fussed about the MMO aspect tbh. Increased server size just means more people to interfere with my own objectives, and I usually only play with one or two friends at a time. I would like to be able to take a 6 man fireteam into Patrol mode though, still can't figure out why we can't do that now mind you. All in all, lots more to come and looking forward to it thoroughly :-D

I bet there is nothing coming. It's all just reuse of what's already there. These people at Bungies just have no imagination what's possible with modern computers and a connected public. All they have done is a Diablo clone where people run into and out of rooms that are temporary connected. The fireteam construct is only necessary to guaranty that 3 people don't get ported to different instances of a room and some rooms have to be closed up for the public because of strikes. It's a rather simple concept of distributed computation.
-
And yet here you are, on a forum dedicated to that 'Diablo Clone'. If you like it, great. Keep playing. If not, why are you here? Yes, there are improvements to be made. Yes, expectations for this game far exceeded the actual product. But at the end of the day, no matter how many people complain, there are still millions of people playing it and enjoying it. By your logic, games that copy Diablo include Borderlands series, Runescape, WoW, and pretty much any open world game. So what if certain doors are only open to you when playing specific missions. You may as well complain that the Cinema only lets you in when you have a ticket for the movie showing. Opening the final door to the Vault of Glass (after the platforming section) would have been nowhere near as exhilarating had I just stumbled across it in Patrol mode.

I like FPS and SciFi space opera with BIG ships and what not. I love Ian M. Banks novels, like 'Surface Detail' and 'Matter'. This world, Bungie has created, is so full of potential and the raw game mechanics work very well. Sadly they have screwed up the story. And a good game needs a good story, otherwise it's just a technic demo.

I completely agree with you and so do roughly 90% of the community (estimate based on naff all research I know, but feel free to prove me wrong). The only reason I bought the expansion pass is because the content that is there, is fun. The Strikes are quick missions with different sections culminating in the standard end boss sequence (if it ain't broke don't fix it. Just because it's 'standard' doesn't mean it's not 'good'). Patrols give the freedom to explore larger areas so you can see how each section connects to each other. (With certain parts locked away I know, but that's a good thing as I mentioned previously). Crucible is fun. Nothing special, but then I tend to stick to PvE anyways unless I'm with a group. Raids are the best example of brilliant mission design. (Minus the bugs). It is varied, challenging, requires teamwork and despite it's length (for the first play through at least), still makes you want to go back for more. Story is the only section the game is truly lacking. Custom matches and MLG playlists can wait, they have CoD and Halo. We need more substance to the story of our Guardians!!!!

Have u taken the time to truly explore every facet of ever world? Earth has 1 section that will go in a circle. From start to mothyards through the skywatch out to the shore into the seeder out through the rocketyard and back to start. U can also cut through mothyards to shore. The moon is one loop that can be done on a speeder and 3 underground entrances/exits, you can go in any one and come out any other. Venus has its one speeder route also with various dead ends to explore on foot. Mars actually has 2 loops, one can be done on a speeder and the other requires going through some huge doors. There are also a couple dead ends u can explore on foot. By far seems like the "largest planet". I've noticed an ogre in the cave on earth, as well as the spider tank boss being there even on patrol. But really nothing of note otherwise on patrol, more random monsters like that would be welcome, as well as having the tank on mars even if not on the strike. Anyone else seen anything cool while on patrol?

I've seen most of what you mentioned. But to me, that's not really content. Destiny would be worse off without it don't get me wrong, but even GTA without any missions or activities would be very boring.
