Is the City/the Tower near Russia?
Against: you can't see the Traveler from anywhere in Russia, as far as I can tell
The map lists them as separate places
The Tower has signs in English, French?, and an Asian language, but I don't think I've seen Russian. (Although the Tower is definitely post-collapse, so maybe that's more indicative of surviving peoples than location.)
Pro: Even though you can't see the Traveler from Russia, your first trip to the Tower shows it to be obscured by large mountain ranges and heavy clouds
The Wall. The Wall protecting the City looks a lot like the Wall in Russia. The one you have to get inside of during the very first mission, immediately after you're brought back to life. There's repeat mentions in many places of the Fallen being "at our walls," but the visible conflict with the Fallen takes place near the Cosmodrome, along the Russian wall.
Thoughts? Any info I've missed?

It's in the North Pole, it's actually Santa's workshop

It would be nice if we knew anything about the city. Anything. We know there's a city down there, it's the last human city, we protect it. But we have not seen a single piece of it. Not even in cutscenes. I know some stuff was cut from the game due to time constraints, but this is a massive drag on the player investment/ immersion factor. Was there absolutely nothing they could show us? Was anything even made for the city? Time will tell, hopefully.

During the Earth loading screen (when you exit transitioning to normal space), on the upper right of Earth, there's a white shining spot, that could be where the Traveler would be. And from closer inspection, you see part of Africa and I assume the Mountains would be the Himalayan Mountain Range

I heard somewhere it's in the Philippines.

I've got it. The City is built on the ruins of Sochi.

Whenever I watch my ship descend o earth, it always seems like the city is in India, or around there. It's east/ northeast from Saudi Arabia, definitely
-
We also have to remember that the city and the cosmodrome could both be in Russia and also 3,000 miles apart.

I wish this game had private matchmaking, so you and your friends can just look at the levels. I need to see the Gap without being shot at.
-
I hope it's not russia.

I wonder if there's a way to determine the height of the Traveler. That could help us determine how far away you'd have to be to not see it.
-
Also, the Twilight Gap PvP map looks kinda like the Russian terrain. The Twilight Gap is some kind of battlefield near the City where the Darkness was repelled in the early days of the Guardians. Or maybe not so early, depending on how old Lord Shaxx is.
-
My theory is that it's near the "Fertile Crescent". From where it appears when you zoom in on it, to a logical place for all humankind to migrate back to.
-
I was wondering that myself. I was thinking the Himalayas. The only two Earth locations specifically mentioned in the game are Old Russia and Tibet.

Yeah, why do we go into the wall, but they're basically all walking freely in them? Oh, and if you're by the speaker, go off to that small balcony to the right of his entrance. If you look down to the right, there's a gaping hole in the wall protecting the city with a forested area in that hole. I thought that was really bad, because any enemy could basically breech into the city through that forest. So, there may be multiple walls. Kind of like the show Attack on Titan.

sounds pretty bang on so far
