Why Bungie Has Xûr

I have ERROR issues.

I don't care.

I've been playing Destiny for a descent period of time. I, like many others, haven't been able to play the whole game. You may say "Well, what do you mean haven't been able to play?" To that I say: ERRORS. Plain and simple. I cannot play the Crucible without being kicked 5 minutes before the match is over and I cannot do a raid because If I join a Fireteam I'll get kicked. It's fine if the game matches me to a Fireteam, but God forbid I try to start or join my own Fireteam. Now, it's not limited to just that, I get kicked from the Tower if I stay too long and I've been kicked from a Strike a time or two. Hell, I've been kicked from a story mission once. Now to the meat of the topic: Xûr You complain, time and time again about exotics being sold by Xûr. What if I told you that I have no other way, besides Strikes, to get exotics. I have a theory: Bungie uses Xûr as a way to appease the players who keep getting disconnected. "Oh, you can't do a raid, because of our crappy servers? Here use these strange coins." That's how I see it. It's not a conspiracy, simply a theory. I don't see Bungie as intentionally doing this. I just think that they have to make up to those players having trouble with connectivity. So, what do you think? Edit: I do not believe that this is the sole reason that Xûr exists! I simply think that this is one of them. Don't be ignorant.

 • From dictionary.com: "Exotic [ig-zot-ik] adjective 1. of foreign origin or character; not native; introduced from abroad, but not fully naturalized or acclimatized: exotic foods; exotic plants. 2. strikingly unusual or strange in effect or appearance: An exotic hairstyle." The word "exotic" is not synonymous with "unique", "rare", or "mythic". While Bungie uses it as the highest tier of gear in Destiny they're brilliant for naming it such and having a salesman like Xur in the game. Traveling merchants, historical or fictional, almost always deal in exotic goods. That's how they make their living. Flavor-wise, as Xur is a traveling merchant he should sell exotics. They should be called exotics because many of them are strange or unusual in appearance given the norm in future old Russia. Given that most are sold by a strange man once a week and others are available only by slaughtering foes from distant corners of the darkness, it totally fits. Oh he comes from a land/ from a faraway place/ where the caravan shadows roam/ Where they bite off your head or your tentacled face/ It's barbaric, but hey, it's home
